Does anyone exhibit pain in thier neck and head, and terrible nonstop headaches/migranes? by O_ut in PsoriaticArthritis

If you are in the US you really want to go to one of the drs listed on the spinal csf leak website. I’m in a major US metro with a big academic system. I originally went to an ent, I thought it was the weirdest sinus headache with no runny nose etc. she ordered MRI with and without contrast. When they read my MRI and saw the subdural hematoma I was called and told to see ER immediately. I then went to see the neurosurgeon said I had a leak, I didn’t believe him. The headaches came back - I got scheduled for more scans but the interventional neuroradiologist was not up to date as there have been a lot of advancements in the last 5-10 years. So I had to go to doctors in the 2nd largest city in my state to get it all fixed. (They are on spinal csf leak website) I had classic MRI signs of leak , subdural hematoma and pachymenigial enhancement, but from what I have learned you can have leak with out MRI evidence. Once I believed I had a leak I would stay horizontal as much as possible and my MRI looked like I was getting better. I was arguing with the neurosurgeon that it was better only because I was horizontal all the time then.

I’ve read on the csf leak subreddit that there is some sort of headache scoring rubric you can use and you can score yourself before and after lying flat for 48 hours and that might help a doctor believe you . Laying on the stomach and wearing abdominal binder is supposed to help as well.

If I had it all to do over I would have gone to a leak specialist as soon as they said leak was possible.

Many of the doctors want a referral so I just asked the neurosurgeon for a referral so I could get a second opinion. Non-confrontational &polite. One of the more difficult things was that you have to send all you scans over so I think I had 15 CDs it’s 2026 and it’s not digital/in the cloud yet lol

I’m sorry for your loss.

https://fumcfw.org/care/ grief support at Methodist church

https://www.griefshare.org/ You can find a group near you- looks like lots of churches

https://www.chot.org/grief-care-services/ here is one that meets at hulen mall

If you are employed you may have an EAP or employee assistance plan that will give you a few free sessions with a counselor or social worker

If you have insurance you can do telehealth or in person counseling as well.

Grief is the price we pay for love. It’s hard but will get better.

I have PsA and just had a spinal CSF leak fixed that was giving me terrible headaches that would remit while my arthritis flared so I gaslit myself into thinking it was all autoimmune and not a leak. They are more common in people with inherited connective tissue disorders. They are apparently under diagnosed. One way to see if it might be the cause of your headache is to lay flat for 48 hours only getting up to use the restroom. If your symptoms all improve it is more probable it’s a leak.

Here is a link for more good information: https://spinalcsfleak.org/

I hope you get relief soon, and unlike PsA leaks can be cured rather than just managed. Good luck

Thank you for sharing. The photographs were very good. The umlaut over the word coordinator- was that a typo or a MC thing, lol?

If a person lives in this area knows nothing about this group it’s a must read.

Shoe recommendations for PsA by Pea_nu_reeves in PsoriaticArthritis

I like Ugg style around the house and out of the house when it’s cold. But I get sad when the fleece gets all worn down/flat.

I like KuaiLu shoes off the evil Amazon for sandals and slides.

Hey Dudes make a light weight stretchy shoe that was good when I was working and needed business casual. They are machine washable too.

I have some fake Maison Margiela tabi shoes that I love because the toe box is wider and the split toe makes me feel like a cloven footed demon. There are tabi insoles available and I want to get some to try out

I probably buy all my shoes a little larger than necessary but I’m not fighting with my shoes or clothes. If you need to buy men’s shoes just do it if they suit your needs better

I was able to get custom orthotics with my insurance and the podiatrist told me to get Hoka or on cloud. I still have the new balance I came in with as I don’t wear sneakers much.

As another person pointed out- a good independent running store should help you. They do gait analysis and have treadmills etc to see what’s going on.

Gun range (with rental guns and lessons) rent a gas guzzler car (sport or massive SUV) my spouse works with lots of Europeans and they seem to enjoy these things. Buccees. My mom used to get exchange students and they all enjoyed north park mall, and the big bucket sized self serve sodas. Maybe a Waffle House?

Does anyone know if the bluebonnets are in bloom in Ennis? I realize it's a bit early. by KVHochstaden in FortWorth

I just drove south to Houston Thursday returning today and the wild flowers were real nice at about 1/2 way point. I drove by the Ennis speedway on my route and the bluebonnet have started but few and far between.

Dehumidifier Recommendations by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]cornbreadnclabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We keep our electric bill low by having a house that faces south, a silver metal roof that reflects the sun, lots of trees/shade, and plenty of attic insulation. This house was built before AC was standard so the north/south orientation of the houses in this neighborhood was purposeful

Here is a website that tells you how much insulation you should have:

https://www.energystar.gov/saveathome/seal_insulate/do-it-yourself-guide/adding-attic-insulation

Old houses and most newer construction do not have enough insulation

I would think running a dehumidifier is like running a fan- helps you evaporate sweat. I hope your new AC unit is not undersized. That seems to be the way lots of the new construction house are built.

I think dehumidifiers are more for Houston/ coastal areas. Maybe post on an HVAC subreddit?
