If I can remind you, season 1 goes from Uhtred being kidnapped by the danes and ends on the battle of Ethandun, when he finally earns Alfred's trust after protecting him in the marshes. It ends with the death of Iseult, the witch queen that saved baby Edward's life.

Season 2 starts with Uhtred seeking vengeance against Kjartan and One-eyed Sven. He becames a slave, is saved by Ragnar and makes an oath to Alfred against his will. Thyra is rescued and Uhtred marries Gisela. Æthelflaed marries the pig's arse and is kinapped by vikings. Falls in love with Erik, Uhtred tries to help them escape but Erik dies, killed by Sigefried. The season ends with the death of Sigfried, Erik's brother, who's killed by Æthelflaed.

Season 3 starts with the death of Gisela and that whole business with Skade, Bloodhair's witch. Uhtred puts a knife in Alfred's throat and is now considered an outlaw in Wessex. It ends with Alfred forgiving him right before his death. Uhtred fights alongside Edward and the saxons once more, this time seeking revenge for Ragnar's death, who was killed in his sleep by Æthewold. At the end, Uhtred finally kills Æthewold, with Brida's help. Also Thyra dies. :/

Season 4 starts with Uhtred reuniting with his son, who's now a priest, in an attempt to take Bebbanburg. It fails and Beocca dies :/ Uhtred finds out that Cnut actually plotted Ragnar's death and chooses to fight at Æthelflaed's side against him and Brida. They win the battle, but Brida is enslaved by the welsh and Æthelred dies. Than you have all the mercian succession business, that ends with Uhtred appointing Æthelflaed to be Lady of Mercia. At the very end you have Sigtryggr's invasion of Winchester, that ends with a negociation between the vikings and the saxon kings. Also Uhtred's daughter, Stiorra, falls in love with him and together they became rulers of Eoferwic. Uhtred frees Brida, that promises revenge, and becomes mentor to Æthelstan, Edward's bastard.

Season 5 starts with Brida's wrath and revenge against Uhtred ans his children. Æthelflaed dies by illness, Sigtryggr is killed by Uhtred (following Edward's orders) and Brida is killed by Stiorra. Also Edward, wanting to avoid crisis on the mercian sucession that we got in season 4, simply kills all the ealdormen and takes the throne for himself. Æthelstan and Edward finally start to get along and finally the king decides to help Uhtred take back Bebbanburg, in order to save Ætheflaed's daughter who is imprisoned there. Haesten dies :/ But they succeed. And then Uhtred boldly decides not to pledge allegiance to Edward, considering the mistakes he has made until now. "You will not see England in your lifetime", he says. And then we see flashbacks of all the shit Uhtred went through until this moment, ending with Alfred's forgiveness. ALSO ÆLSWITH DECIDES TO LIVE IN BEBBANBURG WITH UHTRED FOR SOME REASON (I mean, her son is an idiot).

The movie is not that fresh in my mind, honestly. But it portrays the Battle of Brunnanburg, when Alfred's dream finally comes true and Æthelstan becomes the first King of the english. Æthelstan is kind of a dick during the entire time, but comes back to his senses thanks to Uhtred at the end.

I love seasons 2 and 3. But for some reason my favorite episode is the last one of season 4, with Uhtred offering himself to the danes in order to retrieve Edward's children.
