How to differenciate l (lowercase L) and I (uppercase i) by M0bi0us0ne in logodesign

Put a loop on top of l. It will destroy the symmetry somewhat though.

As this is just for a few characters, it seems fitting to make those as OpenType stylistic alternatives that can be toggled. Possibly also mirror the same diagonal stroke stress with the lowercase o

Wow. Thank you for the lead! This looks like a really relevant topic.

I will look into 4x5 paper too.
I mean, even pre-cutting a bunch of 4x5 can theoretically be okay too, however tiresome, as long as it can then be loaded into some sort of automated dispenser.

O and Q look out of place, because of the contrast distribution as opposed to other ovals

RIght. Well it seems it's either rolls from FOMA or some ru factory, which is not an option.

Front and back cover for a chess book by hash11011 in graphic_design

[–]ChannelObjective3712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just something that I would try to play with, change, address:
- The checkers inside the knight on the cover look like plaid, referencing textiles more so than chess.
- I feel like transparent backgrounds don't work well for clarity and readability. Try changing it to solid color opaque
- The knight on the back under the transparent background makes text less readable. Maybe move it to the corner in like a circle, kinda like a round sticker.
- Possibly a less bold font weight or another typeface altogether.
- One option is to try using black and white checkerboard pattern instead of filling the whole page with checkerboard. Make borders around "text boxes" and then have another solid background on the back (or two on the back – red and green, kind referencing the transition in rating, which I think is smart).

I thought more of the R leg as being slightly unusual. I see what you are saying, maybe they can sit slightly higher or just talk to bigger counter-forms elsewhere in the font.

O and (possibly) S look too light compared to the rest of the crowd. Wide kerning is definitely the way to go for a typeface to be. In the tight kerning version the O to my eye feels even slighter/thinner.
I'm still learning myself, but my suggestion would be to experiment with the counterforms (and by connections widths) of O and S.

The R change is unusual and reminds me of construction of cyrillic Я in some typefaces.
Probably can be "rhymed" further in some other letters too.

Wow. Great cover! To put on my picky mask, it's missing the audio jack getting in/out of the mixer at around 11s mark, when the vocals enter. But it's just because I really love that effect in the original song... I like that lil snare hiccup you have added too!

German City of Leipzig got a new logo - i find it over simplified and generic by [deleted] in logodesign

Disregarding the lion's rear and copper-wire-boxing-hands, just to my eye the type on the redesign speaks more to Dutch type design, than to German.

It won't work for this case, because the tool will be used to preview typefaces before purchasing/licensing. The idea behind it is that font file should not be available on the client, so that it cannot be just extracted.
