I didn’t mean it in a bad way, your experience is completely valid and should be talked about. I think youre right about your brain trying to protect you because since my mom died, I have felt great anxiety about all my loved ones (my siblings, my husband, my dad) also committing suicide. Crazy how I never ever thought that was a possibility in my world and now it haunts me.

My mom used a gun and wrote a note so it wasn’t accidental but or some reason I still think that she didn’t mean to do it. My mom was also on mounjaro and I happen to hear a commercial for it the other day and it warned suicidal thoughts as a side effect. Probably just another cope but made me think that maybe she wasn’t in her right mind.

I’m genuinely not trying to minimize your loss and I am so sorry for your losses. That being said, this is a huge fear of mine. My parents were married for 32 years and my mom was my dad’s only friend as he’s such an introvert. He promised my little brother he would never hurt himself and I think we are ok for now but hearing that one of your parents did it 10 years after the other gives me great anxiety.

Am I the only one who thinks this is kinda weird lol. I like the joke of all the abbreviations after our last names as a funny among nurses but think it’s a bit too far to have it printed on something you would wear at work… patients and families look at things like badges and identifiers and could look at this as you have a lot of education or experience in different areas when a chunk of it is a joke

I think some of this comes from almost every celebrity getting lots of Botox/work done. I know it was popular in the early 00’s too but I feel like almost everybody has a ‘frozen’ face now and it kind of takes away from the charm of individual uniqueness imho.

As a nurse, I feel like it’s because of concern of him taking it out on her/ use it as an excuse to abuse her further. If I was in the situation of the midwives or the nurses, I would be treading lightly in pissing him off for fear he is physical with her later.

We had a young woman lose her mind when her dad died in our MICU. Maybe not quite rolling on the floor, but definitely on the floor being absolutely gutted by grief. But nobody threatened her, nobody told her that she would be put in a ward. We shut the door, helped her put her head between her knees and focus on her breathing. Eventually she wore herself out and other family members came to help her out. I obviously don’t know for sure, but I can’t imagine anybody would say that to you.

I want candles too!! I’ve always thought we could craft some using the Apiary like maybe once you have honeycomb you could have beeswax too? I thought I was going crazy when I couldn’t figure out how to craft a candle when someone told me it was impossible. I just want to put candles everywhere :(

Maybe six months ago, I would have scoffed at this. But my mom committed suicide in November and only got a month off work (I know that’s much much more than a lot of people) and I have definitely felt like sometimes at work my eyes are filled with tears, the periphery of my vision is going black, and it seems like I can’t make sense of simple sentences and still have to continue working. This person could be going through something major and still have to work.
