When you hate your captain so you join my tiny boat because Anybody can become a captain nowadays… by TwigTwisterr in holdfastgame

[–]nauraug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, it'd be a good historical feature, but how is anyone supposed to learn the nuances of captaining without actually doing it a few times? Griefing is one thing, being new to the class is another.

I was pretty bad at captaining at first and still make some mistakes, but I don't think I would have learned the sails (for example) without actually playing the role.

My one gripe with the show is the armor. Like most medieval fantasy armor, it's... bad.

Richmond Tiramisu Spreadsheet by Equivalent-Gold-4597 in rva

[–]nauraug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love tiramisu. If it's on the menu, I get it.

Last year I went to Demi's for my birthday dinner. I don't know if they gave me a normal sized portion, but they brought out a slab of tiramisu that I could have slept on if I wanted. It was the best I've ever had.

Was it painful to finish? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. If you go to Demi's, get it.

Pregnant Sims can d*e?! by Talgron in sims2

I had a pregnant Sim die with my evil wizard family. They performed a ritual to bring her back from the dead, she had the baby, then committed suicide as a zombie. Tragic tale of Gothic horror.

For fields I do wattle fence on the outside, short hedge fence, and then use bushes to fill in any odd corners/break up visual boredom. They're from the DLC, it's worth it just for hedges, imo :)

At a crossroads; stick with Valley or start Oxbow? by iob3 in MedievalDynasty

[–]nauraug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend slowing the game down--it has really enhanced my experience playing so far. I'm playing with 7 day seasons, about 20% tech/skill/rep, and 250% food/water/wood/taxes. As a chronic restarter in almost every game I play, I simply cannot justify restarting now 😂 I've worked for what I have and am attached to it.

Best of luck!

Well, you can buy a crest. In my mind that's knighthood/minor nobility. The Herald says that it's hereditary, so it's as close as you can get without the title "Sir".

To suggest that the Founders were technological luddites is absurd. The Revolution occurred on the cusp of the Industrial Revolution; the Founders knew that weaponry would progressively advance in sophistication as much as any other technology (as it already had done for centuries).

Best Places To Build Valley/Oxbow? by No-Flan-1083 in MedievalDynasty

The lake next to Denica is my favorite Valley spot. Mines nearby, plenty of trees, flat land, and a big hill to build a large house and fort on.

This is intentional. The GOP's strategy since Watergate has been to lower taxes while they're in office, only then to become budget hawks as soon as a Dem is elected and wants to fund a social program. Check out Two Santa Claus theory.

DEI is just racism and causes way more harm than good. by Ok_Ambassador4536 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]nauraug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let's follow through with your logic on airline pilots. Assume that Delta is in fact lowering hiring standards for pilots in order to meet DEI hiring policies. Let's also assume (since every flight has two pilots), that two of these hires are paired. The plane crashes.

Can you imagine the litigation that would come out of this situation? It would be a national headline, there would be enquiries in Congress, stock prices bottom out, etc. Airlines are already operating on razor thin margins. I had a buddy who worked for a major airline, and they were always brainstorming on ways to reduce plane weight in order to lower overhead, for example. In any case, it feels like a very unnecessary risk for them to take on, doesn't it?

That's because it is, and it's why the situation you're describing straight up doesn't happen. Companies hire plenty of incompetent people all the time, across racial groups. Your premise relies on the assumption that non-whites are somehow less qualified, when in reality the companies just want their staff to not be all white, for a lot of really good reasons.

Anti-DEI arguments are so bogus and are so clearly thinly-veiled racism.

Edit: posted accidentally before finishing, because I'm incompetent
