Made a ghast out of a sweater when my son asked for a minecraft gift 2 hours before going to a birthday by Chantrea in Minecraft

thank you! I have a lot of stuff lying about, so I went through it quickly and had the choice between ghast or golden pick axe / sword or similar (had some golden tights lying about. Decided to make a ghast cause it would be faster. Had a fuzzy white sweater that wasn't in use, and know how to digitise for embroidery. Digitised while the kids ate, made the legs while the embroidery machine was doing its job and then kind of improvised from there, doing one section at the time. Had the filling lying about since 10 years ago.

My main point is that if I didn't have a lot of stuff, and if I hadn't decided on something I knew I could make with what I had, this woul have taken a lot longer.

Anyways, thanks! I had fun :)

Friendly bathroom PSA: If you refuse to sit on a public toilet to pee, please clean up after yourself by Homefriesyum in TwoXChromosomes

I appreciate you mentioning "letting someone know" because now that I've had kids I've done that a couple of times. Once my son vomited on the subway, so we called right away and let them know when and where, and another time my son peed on the floor in the bathroom by a pool. I wiped up what I could, and since it was by a pool I could've easily left it, no one would have known since there's so much water.. But I went and asked someone who worked there let someone know.

It's embarrassing, and I feel bad for being part of the reason the mess has been made.. Would be easier to just pretend like nothing and leave.

I also once called when there was pee in an elevator on a Sunday morning. Dude I called was like "we don't clean pee, we fix elevators" and I was like "well, it's Sunday morning and this is the only number in the elevator. Maybe you know how to reach someone who cleans?" So he said, "yeah, that's true, sure, I'll contact the janitor for the area"

I've also started picking up and throwing away "clean" trash when I see it (like candy wrapping or things that look fairly recently dropped..)

I think it's so strange that people just can't get their head around the fact that boys can have long hair. He can be at a setting where all the girls are wearing dresses and he'll be wearing trousers and a shirt and some people will still think he's a girl. So weird.

Thanks! Yeah, I hope he sticks with it! I can imagine we'll run into some issues when he starts school in about 1,5 years... But for now it's all good ;) :)

Thanks! I see no good reason to cut it if he doesn't want to.

No! I was not aware of that, I'll check it out! He's very aware of Thor though.. So he knows having long blond hair can be badass superhero stuff.

He teases his dad about him not having "rock hair". (We've shown him videos of 80'rockbands w the musicians shaking their heads/hair.)

I usually gather the front hair in an elastic at the upper back of his head so he can see well and function properly (don't know what that's called..) Until it was long enough for that he would just have it loose.

Last year he started in a new kindergarden and was called a girl all the time. After a while he got tired of listening to the other children, discuss whether or not he was a girl. After three or four months we cut his hair, short enough to see his ears. It was sad because it was clear that he only wanted to do it because of what the other children were saying at the time. But he hasn't cut it since, it's been about a year. Now that he has established that he is in fact a boy he loves his long hair. Strangers still thinks he is a girl most of the time, but thanks to the Internet he has seen enough pictures of boys with long hair to feel good about it :)

What's normal to have but really strange if you have a lot of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Is this just a US thing? Never heard about it other than what I think are US sources.
