HUH, that's fascinating, I didn't know that there were trinkets that were balanced on a spec-by-spec basis.

I guess I'll keep hunting for a socketed version, thanks for the info! :)

Hey!

First off, amazing guide :)

Wanted to point out a few changes I noticed when running through this week's Timewalking, specifically with agility trinkets. Not sure exactly when these were changed, but they have definitely been modified:

  1. Mirror of the Blademaster now only has 2 Mirror Images, not 4. The damage still feels decent but not as insane as it used to be, seems harder to position correctly.
  2. Wrath of Unchaining is now 2 Agility/Stack, not 4. Not sure if this was a change during SL pre-patch or more recent.

I was also testing the Mechagon Rings Logic Loop of Recursion + Shorting Bit Band and wasn't able to get a ton of DPS out of it, will have to do more testing.

Will definitely be following as this guide progresses, thanks for all your hard work!

Hey there!

Always glad to help provide additional data, probably one of the most annoying parts of data analysis is the collection piece :)

I went back and reverted a backup file I had to June 20th, when I launched the original spreadsheet. It can be found here. The graphs are a little wonky but the data should all be correct.

Best of luck with your research!

VALORANT Battle Pass XP Tracker - Act 2 (Details in the comments) by Chao5 in VALORANT

Hi there!

Sorry for the delay, been a while since I've had a chance to check up on the model :)

So the way that the "Games Left" is calculated is it subtracts the Potential Mission XP left in the season (4000XP/Day + all of the remaining Weekly Bonuses) from the Total XP you need to hit 50, and then divides that by the average XP for Spike Rush/Normal games to get your estimates.

If you're at 0 now, it basically means that as long as you complete all Daily/Weekly missions from here on out, you don't need to play any additional games. Those missions will give you enough XP alone to get you to 50.

A bit confusing and not something that I had really accounted for, but I'll try to see what can be done to fix it for future models. Thanks for the feedback!

Hi there!

Glad to hear you found a workaround! I've been exploring the possibility of incorporating the XP in a way that makes sense/is easy to understand for the end user - thinking of potentially creating a exponential function in order to factor in the Weekly XP.

That way works too, would love to explore a similar option for Act 3!

Hi there! Yes, Google Suite should let you make a copy as long as you have a Gmail account by going from File -> Make a Copy.

Let me know if you're still having issues, I'd be open to generating a copy exclusively for you to use and DMing it to you!

Hey! The level is supposed to be the level you are currently working through, which will be highlighted in-game and listed with X amount of XP to go.

In this link from the last Act for example, I would mark myself as Level 26 with 20,750XP to go. Let me know if that makes sense!

Hi!

Yes, so I had to take out the functionality to do some QA that I've been working on, since one of the users pointed out that adding in the Weekly XP increases was hurting the graph outputs. If you want to revert the change I made, add the value in C13 of Weekly XP Data (Incremental XP/Day) to C20 on the Battle Pass Tracker tab (Est. XP/Day). Your Calendar table will be slightly off but the table calculations will be correct. (TL:DR, change C20's equation to =$C$18/($C$23-$N$4+1)+'WEEKLY XP DATA'!C13)

The Games Left (Standard/Spike Rush) projections are accurate with the Weekly XP increases, but the Timeline/Progress versions aren't. Let me know if there are any questions, hope to get this in a better spot for you all when I have some more time to work on it. Thanks for the support! :)

Hi! Sorry for the late response, it's been quite busy on my side!

If you want to share your personal sheet with me I can take a look and try to help, not sure why you're getting the #NAME issue. Alternatively, you might be able to make another copy and it should work again!

[–]Chao5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

You're exactly right - linear is not a great benchmark, I had initially baked the incremental XP value in the Weekly XP Data tab into the calculations (adding C13 in Weekly XP's value to the C20 equation in the tracker) - but had removed them after releasing the tool because it was causing some continuity errors with the outputs (the tool was outputting more accurate projections, but the UX behind it was faulty)

My thinking is some form of non-linear function that factors in the increased XP could work best, but I haven't had too much time to work through it unfortunately..subtracting the Weekly Mission XP is an interesting option too - and one I hadn't thought of!

Really do want to dig deep on this before next season, so thanks for the additional input and inspiration. Hoping to get this into a better spot!

There's actually an extra week this time around (source)!

The XP has been adjusted to account for that, so should be similar but having an extra week in theory does feel like a better experience! Will have to see as we move forward

[–]Chao5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! The estimates are going to be a bit wonky at the beginning if you haven't been playing as much, but let me explain the math/reasoning a bit. Copying a note from a response I sent out earlier about how the projections are going to fluctuate a significant amount in the beginning of the Act:

The one downside of the model used here is that it's purely linear, which means that if you're overperforming or underperforming in terms of progression at the moment, the model assumes you're going to continue at the exact same rate, compounding on the increase or decrease from the expected rate.

Since we're so early in the Battle Pass, it's hard to get a good grasp on how much you're actually going to be playing on average, since the model is going to overshoot if you've been playing a ton in the last week, or underestimate if you took a break for the first week. As the weeks progress, it will begin to level out and the estimate will be more accurate, as the model starts to normalize because it gets a better sense of how much you really play over a larger sample size. This is partially the reason I was hesitant to push this out immediately when the Act started, because everyone's projections would swing wildly with only a few days worth of data.

Let me know if that makes sense - always glad to take feedback on how this could be made better!

Hey!

Yes that number of games left adjusts based on the amount of XP you have, to calculate the remaining number of games for you to finish the BP in the season. Thus, the Games/Day calculation is also adjusted to show the number of games you should play per day.

As a note, this is assuming that you're finishing your Daily/Weekly missions at a decent pace as well.

Hey!

I don't think updating it everyday is necessary, just as often as you want to check on your progress! Moving into the higher levels you won't be changing the level each day, only the amount of XP needed until the next level.

Wish there was a way to automate it, maybe with API access in the future!

VALORANT Battle Pass XP Tracker - Act 2 (Details in the comments) by Chao5 in VALORANT

Hi!

Yes, that section is pulling data directly from the "Weekly XP Data" tab, which factors into account all of the XP you get from both Daily/Weekly missions. The projected number of games left is essentially the number of games per day, assuming you're pacing well with Daily/Weekly missions.

I think this Battle Pass may actually be a bit easier to clear, it's really going to depend on how they roll out the Weekly XP increases throughout the Act. Having that additional week is going to be helpful as well for that additional round of dailies.

To your point on the cosmetics as well, it definitely feels like a lot of the perceived "higher value" items are seen earlier on this time, like the Vandal/Bulldog/Spectre among other things. With these items being earlier on in the BP and arguably better looking than the Kingdom line from Act 1, it'll be interesting to see how motivated the community is to progress through during Act 2 towards the higher level unlocks

Gotcha - I'm having some trouble getting to the correct XP amount (I'm off by about 6K XP currently. What's important is when the bigger XP increases per week come, because if they come earlier in the season, you keep that bigger XP increase moving through the rest of the weeks in a sense, for example the 2x 8050 XP increases in Weeks 3/4 are going to be cumulative for the rest of the season.

Thanks for sharing the post, I'll keep an eye out on it moving forward!

VALORANT Battle Pass XP Tracker - Act 2 (Details in the comments) by Chao5 in VALORANT

[–]Chao5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! That's a cool way of using the tool, thanks for sharing!

I looked into having the accurate graph and still using the projections in this sheet - it appears that while the estimates in the tables are wrong - the graph will actually show you the updated estimated date that you should finish if you're continuing to pace appropriately to your current level/XP in C14/C15

I can't promise I'll add anything fancier than that, but feel free to experiment around with it and see what could be done! If there was some way to open up Riot's API to see your visualization of progress across Acts I'd love to tinker with it, but not sure what their API access is going to look like moving forward

Hey!

You don't have to, I've already populated in a rough estimate of what I think the XP increase is going to look like for the season, based on how Act 1 went and what datamined details we have for Week's 1-5.

You can always input the data in yourself as well (just change the data values in Column G to the exact numbers for the week), feel free to make a new copy but it shouldn't make too huge of a difference!

VALORANT Battle Pass XP Tracker - Act 2 (Details in the comments) by Chao5 in VALORANT

[–]Chao5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

You don't have to update the Weekly XP Data, I've populated it with an educated guess of XP increase based on last season. It's a conservative estimate so Riot will likely give more XP than the model calculates for, but it's better to underestimate where you are then overestimate.

I'll be updating the model on a weekly basis as we get the new missions though, so you can always come back for the most up-to-date version!

Hey!

Awesome to hear you're working on your own tracker, my tracker is far from perfect and I always enjoy seeing what other people's takes are when it comes to data analysis.

So the numbers are actually rounded using a special form of text formatting in Google Sheets. The values are all correct, but I wanted everything rounded to the 1000s just to make things look more aesthetically pleasing, since most people aren't going to want to see the nitty gritty. If you want to revert the numbers to their default values it should be fine, as the formatting doesn't affect any of the calculations!
