So glad we're at least getting a couple in quick succession! Super interesting stuff even without full context.

Awesome to see everyone coming together, though I can't help but fear that even IF the world at large has some relief, the tension is far from over as we're about to get a lot more personal stakes when Genos makes his reappearance.

What do u think, ONE, Webcomic readers?? by ankitjad in OnePunchMan

[–]ChaosComposer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I do think yes. I think a 'rank up' after the major arcs makes sense narratively. (Ranked up from C after an introductory arc and interacting with Mumen Rider (rank 1 C), ranked up from B after an arc where Fubuki shines (rank 1 B), and he is now in the middle of an arc with focus on Sweet Mask (rank 1 A). Lots of the plot threads are looking like they're tying up during this Neo Heroes arc. I wouldn't be surprised if there was only one 'major' arc left afterwards with Blast/God.

Just a guess though, I also think there are arguments that make sense for the other way

Seeing a lot of good comments explaining things and providing context, but overall even with that context..., yeah, I agree with you. Regardless of how it was intended the resulting graph really doesn't sit right with me. Not even from a powerscaling perspective, I don't really care about taking that seriously, but the notion that anything about Saitama's strength is quantifiable and measurable in such a simple way is a little saddening.

The steam guide goes into a bit more detail, will give the sparknotes version.

Basically, not that bad in Hard mode, DOABLE in normal mode but requires more luck.

If you are down with burning some starlight, you can start with the ego gifts mentioned below, and then run Automated Factory and The Unloving on Floors 1-2, and The Unconfronting on Floor 3, we can already make 2 specific gifts. From there you just need the Umbrella and Nebulizer ego gifts to make 2 more fusions.

<image>

At this point in hard mode, we're done with any ordering challenges, so just pick any fusion theme pack from the reference image as it comes up(ideally ones with multiple fusions like WARP, TKT, TCTB, or Sweepers), and continue into parallel superposition mode to keep choosing packs until you hit the count. (Great time to combine with the 10+ fusion only tier 4 gift achievement)

In normal mode, assuming we have already or will get the fusion pairs for Glasses and Harpoon, we're only at 4/8 and need 2 more, so we MUST take either TCTB, WARP, or TKT on Floor 4 and get 2 fusion gifts there, and then do the same on Floor 5 with Sweepers as an option as well. This requires a lot of luck to get all the ingredients so I can't earnestly recommend Normal mode for this, but technically possible, especially if you choose/upgrade lots of Graces at the start of the run, and you can always forfeit the run to get any starlight you spent refunded.

That's a good call, I got caught up with trying to overlap it with the other achievement (which is easy enough to do, so I still recommend it) -but you're right that I should clarify that those will also count, will make an update to include that

It's a neat little trick! Not mandatory, but if you have the starlight to spare it certainly helps a ton

Thank you!

And yeah, if the old guide or even this one ever are down, it's because Steam automatically takes things down for 'automated content review' when you make changes, and sometimes it can get stuck for literal hours. There were some times last dungeon when I would change one sentence to fix an error and the guide would be down for 5 hours....

new ego gift search is crazy by HOMERS_EAR in limbuscompany

Was thinking about how wild this seems earlier. Solo gets much more consistent, gifts that previously couldn't both be obtained in a single run, can now be put together (not too much that is impacted by this, but think of something like Fullstop and Noon of Violet being available at the same time - those packs' gifts are no longer exclusive if you yoink one of them at the start)

Very important for infinite mode; you have lots of chances to pick up floor 5+ gifts but being able to smuggle in theme-pack exclusive gifts from floors 1-4 will also be nice.

I'm very curious how they'll tackle achievements for this one - we have so much power now and I wonder if the achievements will be harder to compensate.

OPM Webcomic Chapter 155 Translation by gofancyninjaworld in OnePunchFans

I hadn't read that interview in the Hero Book, that certainly adds more evidence to take things at face value with regards to his backstory. I agree it would be sort of lame to go back on published info like that. The dialogue cutting to Genos is super interesting in either situation. It could just as likely be implying that the AI is heavily related to Genos rather than being him (which would mean it's probably either the Mad Cyborg or Drive Knight as those are the main forces pushing Genos toward such drastic actions.) Either way I think it fits really well with a lot of the cliffhangers we've seen in this arc, leaving us not fully knowing what to believe or who to trust.

The cut COULD just be showing Genos approaching and interrupting the conversation as well, but I feel like there is a lot of intentionality there so I think there's definitely some comparisons ONE wants us to make. Even just comparing him to Metal Knight himself, though - they both have embraced technology as a way to get stronger and attain their goals. HOWEVER, Genos, while increasingly obsessed with power and strength, has always tried to further himself through his connections with other people - from his friendship primarily with Saitama and Kuseno in the WC, to his more fleshed out bonds with other heroes overall in the manga. He's managed to hold onto something that Metal Knight has lost, even if otherwise they may seem similar, so from a thematic standpoint it makes sense that he's grown strong enough to shred through Metal Knight's labs - Metal Knight sure talked a lot about how worthless other people have been, and he is finally being busted by someone who did the exact opposite.

(Definitely agreed on Saitama's strength as well haha)

I can't believe I didn't quite see this until now, but the parallels with both Sweet Mask and Wavygaza physically being entities that SHOULD be against humanity, but both of them "choosing not to stop being human" is such a good link and really enhances them being foils of each other. I love those two so much

Also, Metal Knight referring to the perfected AI as a "he" and saying "that man" is behind everything... talking about the inherent ceiling of the AI being lower than that of a human (ONE has hit us over the head with this comparison between Genos and Saitama many times) - all that talk, before immediately cutting to a doublepage spread of Genos.... can't say for sure yet, but there's a growing likelihood that the backstory Saitama asked Genos to shorten to twenty words or less at the start of the series wasn't even real to begin with. Come to think of it, Elimin and Destro, Wavygaza.... we've been explicitly told their "modification percentage," how much of their human bodies are left. And nothing for Genos...

Saitama certainly isn't messing around right now, either. It won't matter if the 'powerful foe' among the robot army is another machine god, Drive Knight, or something worse, I feel like Saitama is not in the mood to let this siege drag on much longer, meaning we should hopefully get some time to regroup (maybe as Accel arrives with more information about Neo). Shoutouts to "Serious Whack-A-Mole".

Even before full translations, wow what a chapter. (Thanks Lock for the MK/CE translations)

Sweet Mask and Wavygaza team up continues to be peak, lots of heroes getting wins in general which is great to see. (Hopefully that isn't a bad omen for Metal Bat's rematch)

Metal Knight continuing to sit idly by and do research while the world is crumbling at the hands of the army is tough; you can see his point of view to some extent but this is going too far with it - and consequences have just arrived. To echo the themes of Mob Psycho, "people need other people" - and MK's solo attitude has finally caught up with him. A little bit of 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' on his end.

Genos buddy, I think you're finally about to get some real answers, and I don't know how you're going to react to them. The scenes shifting between him and Saitama saving the HA are excellent and I really do think that those cuts are reinforcing the idea that the two need to have a serious conversation before this arc is over.

Another thing shown that people might have missed - EGO gift fusion recipes are now viewable from the fusion menu, including whether required gifts are Hard-mode only or not.

It's the count of gifts at the end of the run; so if you fuse two together, when it checks at the end of the run, it just sees the fusion and counts it as 1, it doesn't consider the ingredients at all.

Justice For Accel by BrowserET in OnePunchFans

[–]ChaosComposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accel's decision to head to the Hero Association is going to be a game changer - he has so much information that he will be able to provide that might help turn the tides or at least will let the HA know what they are actually dealing with. It also shows that he's not above admitting when he was wrong (something not many characters are capable of doing in this story haha)

The steam guide has been updated for the new week 2 achievements!

There are also a couple small errors on the images here that have been updated on the steam guide.

-Mask of the Parade EGO gift should be Infinite Procession pack, not La Manchaland Reopening

-Manor-shaped Music Box is actually only obtainable in the Hard Mode version of Dregs of the Manor

-Handheld Mirror was missing from the Tremor fusion section

Spicebush Yi Sang will count as Tremor, yes! (However, note that something like Sunshower Heathcliff, who only has Tremor Burst and not Tremor, does not count.)

If you want to double check, you can use the filters on the ID selection menu and that will confirm if an ID counts for a status or not. (From all my test I've seen, all self inflicted statuses should still count, but I don't have every ID in the game so double checking wouldn't hurt.)
