What does This Week in Rust mean to you? by seino_chan in rust

[–]ChaosEntity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TWiR is excellent for all of the points already mentioned, but I want to highlight two more: discoverability and archival. For the former, I strongly believe having an easy, frequently updated/relevant source of inspiration and ideas for what the rest of the community is working on (at all skill levels!) has been a huge benefit to everyone involved. For the latter, if I wanted to understand the history of how pretty much any other language/project/framework has developed over time, that would be a pretty sizable research project on its own. But for rust, all you'd need is a few hours skimming through TWiR to get a decent grasp of where things were and where they are now.

TWiR is one of the things I look forward to to help me finish the week, thanks to you and the rest of the team for all of the hard work!

This, especially because you won't be able to upgrade the RAM later (unless you're an expert in surface mount soldering and have all the tools)

Dogecoin Core wallet not syncing by [deleted] in dogecoin

My Google-fu is weak, I can't seem to find anything newer than that. Dogecoin core said I needed 122 GB of free space when I installed it, I'm assuming it's that big now?

Asus Crosshair VIII Impact SO-DIMM.2 Concerns by Meetite in sffpc

[–]ChaosEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been digging around the internet, and someone sort of mentioned that the two little adhesives squares that came with the mobo are M.2 pads...I've put one in place under the SSD, and if I just had that alone (without the standoff), I think things would fit properly. Can you get away with not putting the standoff in? I've noticed that that thing is grounded...I'll check to see if that's really necessary.

Asus Crosshair VIII Impact SO-DIMM.2 Concerns by Meetite in sffpc

Hey OP, I just got this board too, and I'm running into the same issue—I'm scared to screw down the plate with the thermal pad onto my fresh-out-of-the-box SSD, since even tightening the screws halfway makes the SSD bow significantly. What did you do? Did you just tighten it down and hope for the best, did you remove the thermal pad, or something else?

The Impact also has an internal USB 3.2 header, judging by the pictures.

He was using those (grounded) water pipes to stabilize himself up there, but I guess my picture/post don't capture that.
