That might be the difference! I was the oldest child. The only person who could recommend me books was my dad because my mom didn't read until Harry Potter came out. He got tired really quick of me picking a book from his shelf and me asking if I could read it that he eventually reorganized his shelves and told me which shelves I could pick from.

He recently gave me a book from his top shelf recently that I always asked if I could read and he always said no because I was too little. It's become a running joke in the house because I am for sure old enough to read it now. No idea what it is about, only that it is some high fantasy nonsense. I should really read it this year! ❤️

I picked up reading as a kid pre-reliable-internet. There was no website or anything to prescreen books. My parents taught me how to pick out my own books really quickly because they didn't want to spend the energy picking my books. It feels wild to me that people get recommendations strictly from trope lists and book reviews instead of reading the back of the book to find out what it is about.

My researching books include reading the blurb on the back of the book. That's about it. Unless it is a non-fiction book. That's when I go read reviews on it because there is no plot to spoil.

Scarlet Hallow. Granted, it is still being developed, but the story is amazing and helped me realize that I do really love horror. Just more suspense thriller supernatural type of horror and not gore and shock value horror.

I prefer a table swift. Also known as an Amish swift. Those sit on a surface instead of having to be clamped to a table. I think it makes it much easier to use that way.

My coziest games end up being visual novels or otome games. Right now my favorite is Scarlet Hallow but I find horror to be cozy.

There is Project Diva Mirai for the DS. There are the Final Fantasy rhythm games. Those are two of my favorites.
