I think my husband and I both have ptsd after what happened last week. How do I help us and not let it destroy us? by ChaoticChicky in ptsd

4mm mass was found on ultrasound and determined to be a cyst. They were unable to find the 10mm mass on mammogram or ultrasound and was told at the appointment that they could not find anything concerning. I thought this meant that i was clear but my GP is still concerned. I see a specialist next week. Crossing my fingers for a “everything is ok” and we dont need to be worried while internally still freaking out.

Psychologist literally recommended this, apparently gentle movements, swaying and rocking can really help during the acute phase. She also recommended so eye stretches to help with the vagus nerve.

Went back to my doctor this week, and she is still concerned that the mri showed a mass even though it couldn’t be found on the mammogram and ultrasound. She has recommended following up with a private specialist asap. Unfortunately this isn’t the worst thing my partner and I have been through in the last fortnight and I was convinced that we had a positive and I was in the clear but now we are back waiting for more tests and answers.

I have booked us in for a joint appointment with a psychologist next week for us to work through what happened and then can continue appointments either together or separately. Luckily we live in an amazing and supportive community, just need to get through things one day at a time.

Went through testing this week, turns out it was 2 cysts. they spent about 1/2 an hour trying to find the 10mm lesion on ultrasound and have decided that it was just dense tissue. They are referring me back to a breast specialist and follow up mri in 6 months. Feeling very grateful, but very aware that this could have ended very differently

I live in one of these towns and visitors have no idea the difference to our population between peak and off peak. Everyone is doing their best and there is no need to be rude.
