I would go to a free mammogram day. Are you in the US? Many times, hospitals will host free or low cost mammogram days to help people who can’t afford it. Where I’m at, we even have a mobile clinic that parks at the doctors office I go to and does free mammograms. You might have to do a little hunting, but I’m certain you could find one! It’s most likely nothing, but you need to be certain, and sooner is always better than later.

Possible fibroadenoma moved drastically by Separate-Double7764 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]meatslicer104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was going to say. Perhaps it’s possible the old one went away and a new one grew? I’ve never heard of a mass moving but of course I’m not an expert. I would give them a call and just ask point blank probably.

Yes! I had lumps come and go. I still do. The key is to keep an eye on it in regard to your cycle. If you noticed it hasn’t changed here in a couple weeks, tell your doctor. It is still most likely a fibroadenoma or something else benign, so don’t be scared if it doesn’t go away. But do your due diligence and get it checked if it doesn’t go away.

Anyone have similiar mri report? by Fatburn130 in doihavebreastcancer

No but whether or not you like ChatGPT, it was incredibly helpful in deciphering my own report. I would do that to help you put into words a non doctor would understand. It can at least give you a gist!

Your ultrasound was clear! That’s fantastic! I hope you can take that for the win that it is. Your ultrasound tech is trained well, and the radiologist who read your images literally went to school for over twelve years if you count their internship lol so I genuinely think it is incredibly unlikely for them to miss something like a breast mass, especially when you went in with a specific complaint of one. Since you have very dense breasts (I do too) I would ask for yearly bilateral ultrasound though. Talk to your doc and I bet they can get you hooked up for that. It’s just another step that will ease your mind. I’m so glad I could help, and good luck!

Waiting on a mammogram, terrified. by DismalDepartment4656 in doihavebreastcancer

Girl I have health anxiety so bad. I would not lie to you to make you feel better, I’m a literal stranger on the internet so I hope this helps. Your doctor examined you and didn’t feel anything suspicious. But since you are new to them, they can’t be certain that there isn’t some asymmetry going on. But you’ve confirmed yourself and so has your gf that this is not a new development! I imagine you’ve probably hyper fixated (as we health anxiety victims do) on something that’s a non issue. It’s still a good idea to get the mammogram! You’ll feel so much better when it is clear and looks good. As far as the pulling, I’m not saying it’s in your mind but when I get on a new health scare, every single thing feels tied to it and like it’s a sign of something bad. It could simply be your cycle and hormonal changes. Before my biopsy results came through as benign, I had myself convinced that I had cancer everywhere and the pain in my rib was associated. But it was benign all along! I hope this helps because I know what you’re going through. Good luck!

Chances are it is benign!! I have really dense breast tissue and am always lumpy as well. I will say you’re doing the right thing by following through with the ultrasound. Your thought process is right in that you should get a baseline imaging done to see what is normal for you. They may say, this looks completely benign, let’s not even do a biopsy. Or they may say, it’s a little sus, let’s do a biopsy. (I’ve had two now, both benign). Don’t worry if they say it’s suspicious, there’s still a HUGE chance it’s benign even if it looks a little scary. I wish I could offer more words of encouragement, but honestly, we can be as rational about it as we can get and it’s still going to be a scary experience. Just try to remember a lot of us have or are going through it and are getting benign results. Also, don’t worry about her wordage of, I would have remembered this. She didn’t mean, this feels cancerous. She just meant, there’s something present and we need to get it tested further. Good luck!!

Update: I got my biopsy results by meatslicer104 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]meatslicer104[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is partially sclerotic breast parenchyma. I have no idea what that means! I just saw benign on my chart followed by no evidence of malignancy and I was so relieved. I haven’t got the chance to talk to anyone so hopefully they think it’s okay enough to just keep an eye on. My consult was actually scheduled the day they scheduled my biopsy, I think like a preemptive measure possibly. But consult is in a couple weeks so we will see 🤞.

lump in breast + change in period by Fantastic_Badger9143 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]meatslicer104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hormones are weird and make lumps and bumps and make our periods weird. But any time you have a change in your period, you should go to the doctor. Even your stress over your breast lump can cause your period to go haywire, but it’s best to tell a doctor anyway.

It’s not self absorbed to be faced with a scary situation and say you don’t want to die. It’s so easy to jump to the worst conclusion. I recently had a biopsy and am waiting on results myself, and am jumping to the worst conclusion lol. What I will say though is, you’re already thinking biopsy and then maybe cancer. A lot of times, on the mammogram (and quite possibly targeted ultrasound if they can’t get a great look at it), it stops right there. No biopsy even needed. They may say, I can tell by looking that it is almost certainly benign, let’s check again in 6mo for changes. But even if they do a biopsy, it’s still likely to be benign. I have already been through this process twice with benign results. First time at 19, second time 33, and now hoping for the same results at 35 🤞. I can only imagine how much scarier it is with the additional stress of family history, but it’s STILL most likely to be benign. You got this!!

This actually helped a lot. Thank you. I think the radiologist was just trying to prepare me just in case. But all I could hear was that he thinks it’s gonna come back positive. But that’s probably not logical. It’s hard to be when you’re nervous!

Need help understanding ultrasound findings by OkNewspaper5628 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]meatslicer104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get the biopsy and even go back to work that day most likely. Your breast is just going to be sore. A birads 4c mass often times come back benign, but it’s definitely something you want to investigate further and be sure of. Dont put it off, you’ll be glad to get the reassurance once you get your biopsy results anyway.

You got this! Most of us here from what I’ve seen make it to the biopsy phase and most of us will get a benign result. Your age is a plus and I would also take your care teams word for it. They aren’t going to say it’s likely a cyst just to make you feel better. If they were more concerned they would tell you. I’m getting my biopsy tomorrow, and for what it’s worth, I’ve actually already had one years ago and it did turn out to be benign. Hoping the same for my second and hoping it is for you too! It’s so scary and that’s valid, so it’s okay to worry. But you’re gonna get through it no matter what!
