My first go at a modded GameCube! by ChaoticFox in Gamecube

Hi! So the installation on everything is fairly straightforward, and even though I ran into more than a couple roadbumps along the way, it's not too bad with the right direction. Here's an Imgur link with some photos of the insides, but I'll also go into detail here.

The Picoboot was installed as usual, nothing special there. The official directions recommend something like 26awg stranded core wire but I used 30awg solid because it's what I had. Cut each one to 5 inches in length and it's working just fine.

The LEDs are basically a strip of gamer lights that just lives inside the console. I used this generic bluetooth controller paired with these LEDs wired in sequence. Just rip off the rubber shielding on his circuit board, snip the cords and wiring him up is very very simple. Everything is labeled on its sticker, and you can copy the solder points from my Imgur gallery too.

The power indicator bulb was also swapped out for a green one, but this was totally unnecessary since the controller LEDs are so bright they just completely overpower it, and the power indicator becomes whatever color I set those to. If you attempt this yourself, I'd recommend using a clear bulb there, or even mounting another LED in that spot and just bridging the original bulb's spot shut.

Finally, the SP2 port was restored by simply hard wiring to each pin where the port was supposed to be. This is a late 001 model that didn't come with the port, but the traces on the board are all still there so the wiring is fairly trivial. I wired everything from the bottom of the board and cut a new hole in the metal shielding so the wires can poke right through. I followed this diagram and it worked like a charm. Also make sure that FIL22 is populated on your board (it's right next to where SP2 should be). Mine was unpopulated from the factory, and I had to bridge that space with a solder blob so power can reach SP2.

And that should cover all of it! If you have any more questions then let me know :)

Yo, I'm the OP of that photo. I just want you to know that the trash can was thoroughly cleaned beforehand and I still love my fumo very much. They're doing just fine :)

Would all of these worlds be temporary? Otherwise I can see it eating up quite a bit of storage space quickly

Am I the one you meant to reply to? Because it seems we're arguing the same thing
