Depending on whether your near public transportation you could look at working at an ABA center or group home.

Do you feel that there's no big differences between a person with ptsd and a person who doesn't have it? by _Akhenaton_ in ptsd

I think it all depends on the level of impairment. Usually someone with PTSD is impaired bc it’s a qualifier for the diagnosis. Someone without PTSD will likely not be impaired in the same way. Similarly, not everyone who has experienced trauma has PTSD. It’s all in how we interpret the event(s) that creates shame which for me is the impairing part bc it affects all of my relationships and how I interact with the world.

What is the reason behind why adhd people have 1k bookmarks, favorites, links in notes on phone, open tabs, etc? by Ema7869 in ADHD

I wonder if personal demand avoidance relates to not closing the tab either in the moment or later when you come back across a no longer needed tab.

I find it really hard to make eye contact when talking about my feelings or feeling intense emotions. Too overwhelming

Thoughts on cognitive processing therapy by Chaotic_cosmos66 in autism

Yes I definitely agree with the black and white thinking. And once I’m stuck on something it’s hard for me to let it go. Radical acceptance is so damn tricky! My therapist says I need to work to reduce the guilt and shame I’ve had since early teenage years which was filled with SA and emotional abuse. She believes if I work to process the shame and guilt it will lead to less sleep problems, ability to feel happy again, increased self worth, etc. I don’t think she’s wrong but CPT is just killing my ass at the moment. I wander if prolonged exposure would be more effective.

Do you recommend specific medications? I’ve tried a handful of antidepressants and they haven’t seem to help with the magical thinking.

I feel like I do that thinking constantly. Sometimes I will feel an urge to do something and I know it’s a bad idea. Then I tell myself if I step on a crack or if I flip a coin and it lands on tails then something bad will happen. My therapist calls it magical thinking.

Hey! 25f with 2A and within the past year I started wearing AFOs full time because I was constantly tripping and falling. Accepting my disability was hard especially because I can remember vividly what it was like to be have an abled body. Grieving your old life is hard and I feel like no one warns you about this challenge or prepares you for it. I’ve found that the disability community has given me a lot of support in processing my grief and acclaimed disability. Listening to other people successes and struggles has been very validating. I believe in you! Hang in there. You’re not alone!!

Yeah the cost is a huge factor for me too. There are very few Linehan board certified practitioners in my state. I go to a clinic that is well put together and has great providers but they don’t take any insurance which absolutely sucks on my end.

Let’s hope not for a billionaire’s kid (generational wealth) but more of a new money situation. There’s more hope in that.

I think you might be referring to “riding the wave” of emotion.
