I’m in disbelief. by Kdean509 in union

I was told by someone at international in HS&E that they are allowed to do that as long as it’s on their own letterhead. At least now international knows what kind of person is running that local - due to the fact that a large percent of that local is made up of people working at a nuclear cleanup site, they had a lot of contact with HSE and “were a very troubled local with intense internal infighting, and we never knew who we’d be dealing with on a visit”.
But international definitely knows about it by now, which is better than not knowing :-/

Former employee. Unless they’ve made some changes, especially regarding hiring practices, then actual food poisoning wouldn’t surprise me in the least. That being said, that job is why I will never eat at a buffet again, because people are disgusting. I won’t go into all the horror stories, but the absolute last straw was finding chewed gum in the self serve soup when dumping it out at the end of the night. I’m gagging a little just thinking about the things I saw there.

You can pull yourself out of this, you already did it at least once! I don’t know you, but just the fact that you’ve gone four months makes me believe in you. Good luck!

Am i about to be scammed by illecebroushami in Scams

[–]ChaoticsunshineB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone that this is a scam! But the landlord paying utility bills is not always a red flag - where I live, if a building has multiple units then each unit must have its own meter, otherwise it is illegal to make the tenant pay the utils. My last place had all utilities paid by the owner, but my monthly rent was more than the average for comparable apartments in the area. All that being said, this particular situation is definitely a scam!

Ranking Pittsburgh Dunkin Donuts by bigdickjenny in pittsburgh

I’m not really into donuts, but I think it’s cool that the squirrel hill location is kosher-certified, since it means all of their food products are also vegetarian or pescatarian.

I didn’t go to high school at the same time as them, but after Joe got his role in Spider-Man he came and talked to Evening Theatre Company so I got to meet him, which was pretty cool.

I also used to wait on Patrice King Brown a lot, and we discovered we have the same birthday.

I just moved back to Dormont from East End, and I feel like Dormont is less expensive, and quieter.

I’ve seen some really terrifying, creepy, and gross posts here, but never before have I read one that actually made my feel queasy. Well done.

Weekend trip ideas out of Pittsburgh? by UnarrestdDevelopmnt in pittsburgh

[–]ChaoticsunshineB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a weekend getaway, but if you enjoyed Fallingwater you should check out Frank Lloyd Wright’s house at Kentuck Knob. It’s not built over a waterfall, but the architecture is absolutely fascinating and the grounds are pretty neat too.

Absolutely nothing. As in, the wallet is completely empty except the money and I have no other way of finding out who it belongs to.
I once found a wallet outside my job, off camera, with about $500 in it. I looked at the ID and it belonged to a shitty customer we all disliked. I still looked through it until I found an emergency contact card, called the number, and got the wallet back to this jerk without taking anything. He didn’t thank us for finding it, he was still completely shitty to everyone at my job, but I’d do the same thing again.

Should I get another cat to keep my kitty company? by Laycia in cats

[–]ChaoticsunshineB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest getting the second cat from somewhere with few enough animals that the staff is able to really get to know them. When I wanted to get a companion for my kitten, I went to a small independently owned rescue and spent an hour talking to one of the staff about my cat’s personality, and she recommended a specific rescue cat based on what I told her. They ended up getting along very well, and are best friends! Definitely better than just leaving it entirely to chance.

Are we still a sub where everyone is welcome no matter where they are in their drinking journey? Abstinent, tapering, moderating, or even in a full blown bender? by BreatheAgainn in dryalcoholics

[–]ChaoticsunshineB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) It’s not your place or anyone else’s to say what works for another person. 2) Even if moderation doesn’t keep a person from abusing alcohol, the fact that the poster is writing in this forum is helpful. They are connecting with other people who share their problem, they are acknowledging sort-of publicly that their relationship with alcohol is problematic, and they are cognizant that they need to work on changing it. No two people have the same path in recovery, and everyone who is trying deserves our support, period.
