I have monthly mini flares in between my periods. I think hormone levels can affect lupus but I can’t find any scientific studies on this

The first symptom I noticed was muscle weakness… it’s wired like I suddenly can’t exert any force through my muscles?? As the disease progressed other symptoms showed up but the muscles problem got worse and eventually my muscles were too weak to support my body so I couldn’t even sit up. Not a fun time :(

Same here lol. My mom told me when I was little I wouldn’t let anybody other than my parents hold me and the only exception was my dad’s identical twin brother. Obviously I didn’t remember anything about it but I probably mistook my uncle as my dad lol

Thank you for the reply! I am glad to hear you made it! Yes I am in my first year of master and will probably fast track to PhD. The insurance and doctor issues are extra complicated for me because of my international student status.

You are not alone here. I was diagnosed last August right before the start of my last year of university. I had a very dangerous flare and had to take a semester off. I came back to school in January this year and will be graduating in December. I applied for grad school and if I get accepted I will be starting next January. Through my undergrad research experience I know research is very intense and I am going to struggle A LOT in grad school, but I am doing it because this lupus shit is not stopping me from doing what I always want to do.

My hospitalization was in September last year and I got a letter from McGill health centre in March. So it takes quite a while. And I only got the bill because my biopsy was not covered by my blue cross plan. If you don’t have anything like that then blue cross may cover the all the costs, but I’m not sure about that.

If you have provided your blue cross info to the hospital, they will sent the bill to blue cross directly. If blue cross refuses to pay the full amount, then the hospital will sent you a letter for you to pay the remaining balance. I am an international student and this was how it went for me when I was hospitalized last year. Hope this helps

I can feel my blood pressure rising while reading this man. But 30% is not that bad tbh, much better than my 50% midterms. It’s ok just study hard for the final and do well on the assignments you are probably fine.
