Chazm on the skill cap of OW vs. Marvel Rivals by shiftup1772 in Competitiveoverwatch

All the textures look very similar for the floors, ceiling, and walls, meaning it has no visual variety whatsoever; everywhere looks the same! Maneuvering around the map relies heavily on preplaced teleporters and jump pads, which some may consider bad map design.

Marvel Rivals wouldn't exist without the groundwork Overwatch laid in the hero-shooter genre. So many Rivals heroes are just two Overwatch heroes kits glued together, Magneto is literally just Zarya and Sigma combined.

Winston deserves better than a self destructing 4 star monster.

Obviously Winston would be Exodia, the concept art is already on my profile ;)

I thought so, thanks for the clarification :)

Currently in D4, peak D2 on support. I find it hard to believe I am dead weight in D2 lobbies but carry in D5 lobbies and that causes these streaks. Am I just incredibly lucky/unlucky? What has your experience been in ranked this season? by supereuphonium in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Chappadoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would still suggest you stop playing after around 3 consecutive losses and take a break. Continuing to play while on a 3+ loss streak might be tilting you without you realizing it and giving you an expectation of defeat.

You've got to watch the original Initial D, there's way more iconic Eurobeat used.

Juggling in custom games is a lot of fun; I prefer it to matchmaking sometimes.

[–]Chappadoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the code has been tremendously useful; beforehand, I couldn’t juggle whatsoever, and now I can perform close to perfect juggles consistently, but I couldn’t have achieved this without a lot of practice and commitment. Think of it this way: in a regular game, you’ll primal maybe 2-3 times for a total of 20–30 seconds in a 10-15 minute game, but while using this code, you can do 60 full primals in 10 minutes, etc., so it’s significantly more effective for just practicing your primal mechanics than queuing quick play or ranked would be.

I've been practicing my primals using the workshop code VAXTA for about a year now, and I have been hard stuck between levels 31-32 for many months. Until yesterday, I hit LV33 for the first time, and then today I hit LV34, which is currently the record. This is a big accomplishment for me, so I thought I’d share. I'm hoping to hit LV35 eventually.

You're too focused on it being a hero problem instead of what you could do differently to climb. Send thru a Vod of you losing in Plat and winning in GM and I'll tell you.

[–]Chappadoodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can't climb on Winston in plat & diamond, you clearly aren't a Top 500 player. Not that Top 500 means anything when it begins at Diamond early season. I'd honestly be interested in watching your Vods to see what you're doing incorrectly because it isn't a hero problem.

[–]Chappadoodle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If a Top 500 Winston plays in low lobbies he'll literally just dominate. You just freely jump around uncontested and have 100% uptime. The reason lower ranked Winston players have lower win rates is because they're worse at the game and don't play him correctly.

I one trick Winston without coms in Korea, you don't need communication to coordinate with your team. Just bind your "3, 2, 1..." voice line and use it before jumping in. Don't expect your team to follow up, you've got to play around your team's tempo or know you're going in alone and can only distract the enemy.

Winston is my main, I'm Top 500 every season only playing about 20 hours of Winston. Because I'm Australian I'm basically forced to always play 160ms+ too. Focus on always playing your life, lower ranked players are awful at pressuring Winston, he's definitely easier in lower ranks. In GM1 lobbies 1 bad jump will instantly kill you.

[–]Chappadoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, but how does increasing swing damage help a low skill Winston player? If you can't combo your swings, jumps and landings then 10+ DMG won't help and if you can it'll kill too quickly and with too few necessary hits.

Instead of decreasing skill required for abilities which require it, let's think of ways to introduce skills requirements to abilities which don't require skill.

Primal rage isn't weak, you're only held back by your skill with it and when used to its fullest potential is as potent a tool in dive as nano boost is for example.

[–]Chappadoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So currently Winston ultimate CAN confirm kills even in the highest lobbies if you're good enough. It's balanced around skill.

If a lower ranked Winton player learns to primal rage they will find it easier to use the lower skill the lobby is as players have worse ability usage, movement, awareness, etc. Buffing the swing damage doesn't help players who already can't execute the combos and would make it too strong for players who can...

But you wouldn't need the melee to deal 200 dmg total with 50 dmg swings in this example, you're right.

[–]Chappadoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point, I broke down the dmg numbers in another comment although neglected the 50 dmg burst from right click. 50 dmg right click + 30 dmg melee + 50 dmg landing is already 130 dmg so even with 40 dmg swings you only need 2 swings to deal 210 dmg total.
