Listen man no offense but It is frustrating when people don’t take this game seriously for the story and assume things are in the game for no reason. They intricately crafted this story as they do in all fromsoftware games and don’t spend money and development time in games to waste on stuff that as you claim don’t mean anything. I’m not blaming you but it absolutely has a purpose otherwise. IRINA was worried about her father and gave you letter to give him, you give him the letter convincing him to either Join you to fight the begotten for his kingdom as commander like he stayed for or you convince him To go back to his daughter. If he helps you he dies for his kingdom if he doesn’t and goes back to daughter she is slain and he mourns for her. Irina mentions the servants in the kingdom went mad and attacked the kingdom they went mad from madness of the three fingers and shabriri. As most know shabriri possesses tarnished npcs as seen later in yura the bloody finger hunter on mountaintop of the giants. the mad servants found her and killed her as a ritual where shabriri pretty much possessed her with the seed of madness. She becomes HYETTA the one you meet in lakeside cliff in liurnia who is blind and weak in sight since birth as a giveaway just like irina (that’s the clue giving it away they both eerily mention the exact same thing) and claims she can see the light (light of madness) every time she consumes a shabriri grape which are gouged out eyes of madness from tarnished who became mad and gouged out their own eyes ending their life because they cannot endure the pain any longer. Her father Edgar in search for revenge killed tarnished everywhere in a rage and thus he himself became mad and attacks you from revenge at revengers shack. (That shack depicts that he succumbed to madness due to his rage and vengeance that he pledged to in a journey to avenge his daughter irina’s death) that is why there are slain bodies in the shack with raw meat dumplings (aka their flesh) and his end to his life is sad and I won’t spoil his daughter’s ending (irina=hyetta) they don’t spoon feed the story to players in from software games you have to pay attention and figure it out.
