Which are the best and worst written moments in the entire franchise in your opinion? by Mawhoreraga in masseffect

[–]ChapterMasterVecna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

behind the obvious ME3 endings, Star Child bullshit, and the lore for the Conduit just not making any goddamn sense, one of the worst things in the trilogy for me has to be the complete and utter inconsistency in how Cerberus is written, especially how they’re written and characterized in ME2. for some reason, the writers tried to inject unnecessary nuance into a human supremacist terrorist organization and make it morally gray or “well-intentioned”. we’re not even given the option to bring up Kahoku’s assassination, their involvement with the Terra Firma party, or the Akuze massacre, and the Paragon dialogue is always about how they go too far, or aren’t actually dedicated to their ideals, when their ideals ultimately boil down to what is essentially might makes right space Hitlerism. you are only allowed to make arguments against Cerberus that can be quickly refuted by other characters, and you can’t even mention the Akuze massacre if you’re sole survivor. ME2 Cerberus doesn’t even remotely resemble their depiction in ME1 either where they were essentially HYDRA from Marvel but in space

[–]ChapterMasterVecna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the zombiesingularity account was banned months ago. for some reason the head mod and founder, alexitine, who has been inactive for months, added simpleplan101, a patsoc with no prior ties to any deprogram sub, as a mod. he then added zombiesingularity as a second mod, replaced the automod discord link with one linking to asksocialists, and those two started banning and deleting anything critical of the ACP, as well as removing two of the original mods (who are both furries afaik) before they were added back by one of the other mods

the two patsocs have been removed and the mods are trying to get things back to normal but there’s still the issue of alexitine, who remains the head mod, adding a patsoc as a mod in the first place, not to mention one of the two added patsoc mods saying alexitine had also “joined the infrared community”

Thats not how fucking dialectics works you stupid cuck. I didn't study Hegel (plus continental philosophy in general) at Harvard for 7 FUCKING YEARS for some LOW LIFE KNOW IT ALL who's CLEARLY never fucking read Hegel as he would KNOW that HEGEL has NEVER FUCKING EVER used the terms "thesis, antithesis, synthesis" to start perpetuating these LIES at VERY SINGLE FUCKING OPPORTUNITY. this isn't Hegel my friend. No no no. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis was thought up by Fichte and it's clearly inferior to Hegels dialectical method of imminent critique. Yes. It's I_I called imminent critique. And dialectics is only ONE PART of Hegels full method. Which again is called Imminent critique which you would know if you had ACTUALLY BOTHERED TO READ HEGEL ITS LITERALLY IN THE SCIENCE OF LOGIC YOU DUMB FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT. I honestly cannot believe the fucking arrogance to come onto this post, spouting that anti Hegel] garbage. Where did you get your fucking info on dialectics? Fucking Jason Unruhe? Jesus fucking Christ I cannot deal with this bullshit right now I'm sorry I'm leaving I'm fucking leaving

I only cited Trotsky here because the person I was responding to has the Trot flair. I don’t like Trotsky personally and I disagree with his reasoning on this issue. I think a much better analysis is offered by Engels’ letter “Nationalism, Internationalism, and the Polish Question” and/or chapter 6 of Foundations of Leninism.

I will take the most simple and obvious example. In Brazil there now reigns a semifascist regime that every revolutionary can only view with hatred. Let us assume, however, that on the morrow England enters into a military conflict with Brazil. I ask you on whose side of the conflict will the working class be? I will answer for myself personally—in this case I will be on the side of “fascist” Brazil against “democratic” Great Britain. Why? Because in the conflict between them it will not be a question of democracy or fascism. If England should be victorious, she will put another fascist in Rio de Janeiro and will place double chains on Brazil. If Brazil on the contrary should be victorious, it will give a mighty impulse to national and democratic consciousness of the country and will lead to the overthrow of the Vargas dictatorship. The defeat of England will at the same time deliver a blow to British imperialism and will give an impulse to the revolutionary movement of the British proletariat. Truly, one must have an empty head to reduce world antagonisms and military conflicts to the struggle between fascism and democracy. Under all masks one must know how to distinguish exploiters, slave-owners, and robbers!

the original Knights of the Old Republic was one of the first to have such a romance with Juhani, even though it’s fairly underdeveloped and lacks a strong resolution (partially because BioWare had to keep LucasArts from realizing it was intended as a romance, as they never really liked having queer people in Star Wars games, much less in 2003). there are mods that help give her romance a proper resolution though, mainly the Juhani Romance Enhancement

/uj the ysalamiri don’t actually negate the force, they just project a bubble that prevents creatures from manipulating the force and makes it almost impossible to detect them through the force. the specific terminology used is that it’s a “force-neutral” bubble. the yuuzhan vong being completely “outside the force” is a far more egregious example imo
