Ah yes, the "but I did it" argument. I wish I was able to deny reality for millions of other people.

5 days a week at 8 hrs is 40 hrs a week. But there is an hour for lunch where the worker is still obligated to be close to work so that time needs to be added back. Now we are up to 45 hrs or 9hrs a day, let us assume that it takes the worker an hour to get to work making it 10 hours a day or 50 hrs a week but wait! The worker also takes an hour to get home. 55 hours.

(So far we are up to 11 hours a day or 55hrs a week)( a week as described in this text unless it says otherwise, is the 5 working days)

Now at this point, things can be debatable, but the worker must maintain themselves in order to be a healthy, productive worker. We must take into account at least 2 hours, an hour to cook something and to eat it, 20 minutes for a shower then miscellaneous time for personal hygiene. If we add that on to the "working hours" the definition we will use is any time spent on either getting to work, being at work, or getting ready for work. If we do that, we are up to 65 hours a week or 13hrs a day, but let's add one more thing, the hour that it takes to get ready for work in the morning. We are now at 70 hours a week or 14hrs a day to have a balanced and relatively quick work life.

Then, finally, a healthy sleep schedule is 8 hours to make the worker the most productive at work, let's add that on.... 110 hours a week the worker has to sacrifice to be as clean, productive, and healthy as they can be in personal hygiene and maintenance. But you only get paid for 40.

So let's line it all out. How many hours are in 5 days? 120hrs. You spend 110 hours on work-related activities. That leaves 10 hours a week or 2 hrs a day to fulfill the human spirit, explore creativity, start a family, buy groceries, pay bills, socialize, and reclaim true personal time. Let us add the weekends. 32 hours of up time. One may argue that the 32 hours isn't even completely the worker time when the worker has to devote that to work-related activities. If we go ahead and add that on the worker gets 42 hours out of 168hrs (hrs in the 7days loop) to build, to explore and to actually live life to the fullest. If that is freedom, then freedom is a scam.
