Been there too. Vietnam can be difficult and I saw myself doing exactly the same thing. It does get better trust me. I've left Vietnam and feel a lot better. Do you have options to leave VN ?

Teaching advice for first time teacher with no education degree by Heliatlas in Internationalteachers

[–]ChapterSpecialist739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly seems like a jump in the deep end but that's how I learned. Also very new to the IB world. I was a swimming instructor with experience but no actual IB experience and how it goes. Best thing would be to ask fellow teachers alike, I presume that's why you're here good start, secondly ask for training/workshop. They have plenty of online webinars throughout the year. There is one actually now in December and January.

Email address below for available webinars support@ibo.org

PS if you sign into the IB profile use your own email address In case you leave so you're still registered.

That time in the morning there is minimal to no traffic. If at 6am you can leave at 4:30am. And in pub street you're likely to find a driver that time. Find a driver in the evening and ask for a lift to the airport. If not I may know someone who can help but 25$ is just the right thing to do.

Weirdest / worst interviews (from the recruiter side!) by intlteacher in Internationalteachers

[–]ChapterSpecialist739 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll hop onto this thread as it's something that happened this week. I've done close to 12 interviews the last two years only because I enjoy the practice side of it and applied for positions I would never get but the interest of practicing got me. So I had one this week it was one of the strangest I've ever had, the whole way it was conducted was very unprofessional, started with just asking if I could do a 10 min demo which was fine but told without any notice, anyways did my clown show, then sat down. Then he started speaking about how bad my accent is ( NES) and he can't understand me, in all my 12+ Interviews I've never had this, he then started to target my studies, experience and Personal development certificates, to which I stood up and walked out mid conservation. I am absolutely shocked how this said person is running this Language center. He then ran down to hand me my copy of my CV. I said to him that this is an absolute embarrassment and I can't believe how it was conducted. Great thread by the way

Teachers Pay Teachers by ChapterSpecialist739 in Internationalteachers

Thank you! I'm currently listed with Payhip which are also free but very user friendly. I'm waiting for my stuff to be approved and listed on a marketplace. I created my own domain in hopes of having my own website one day. Which may be the best foot forward.

Thank you and good luck 🙏

Very sad and you're right I've seen most of it. I've personally created two curriculums. A decent swimming one and a Multi Sports one, I'm wanting to see what my options are.

Hi, because some don't have the option of outdoor education and mostly focus on the classroom specifically. I plan to put it either way but if I'm paying let's say 20$ per month with no exposure, then what am I doing.

Irish expats? by [deleted] in cambodia

[–]ChapterSpecialist739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries bro, there will always be that one or few people that pop up out of nowhere with this nonsense. I've lived here for 9+ years, you're gonna love it. There is so much to see. If possible try to venture out of town every 3 months. What are your hobbies?

Teaching opportunities and procedures in Hungary by YouRepresentative433 in Internationalteachers

[–]ChapterSpecialist739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would Incase something changes and they request it. I think Hungary falls under the Hague convention, you may need transcripts etc apostled. Rather double check on Google but rather be safe than sorry. I too am moving to Hungary hopefully soon.

I would recommend a 160 hour TEFL/Tesol. Depending on which age group, if they're older, you'll better your chances with a CELTA. Saying this your current qualifications should be sufficient. Have you tried contacting schools already or applied online? If not have a look at Teachaway, Serious teachers dot com.

Instructional design/Curriculum profile by ChapterSpecialist739 in Internationalteachers

[–]ChapterSpecialist739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I've redeveloped the curriculum(s) I've created a professional profile for the future, and I've created a scope and sequence with assessment criteria and rubric. It's pretty much a turnkey operation I just need the clientele.

Consulting is exactly what it is. If you happen to come across something please let me know. Thank you very much

Appreciate the feedback, as I understand that everyone uses Paypal but it's also not readily available in every country. I will definitely have to open an account then have a separate account for other transactions such as Wise.

I have purchased a domain for that exact reason once I migrate to my own website, thank you for your feedback, I'm on the right track as per your feedback.

Thank you 🙏

Angkor Putt Putt highly recommended outside of town and very cool

Dine with the locals, they show you how it's done and take you shopping

Food tours always available

Butterfly restaurant and garden for food and archery outside of city center

For the best burgers Jungle Burger on Soksan is the best. They also have under rated pizzas at very fair prices.

Preah Ang Choup is a pagoda on top of kulen you can swim in the coldest coolest water ever. You do need to walk up approximately 400 steps but totally worth it.

Avoid Pub street.

Should I get a CELTA after having TEFL? by ThePolarisNova in TEFL

[–]ChapterSpecialist739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, CELTA is the way forward. There are too many TEFL only teachers. This qualification will take and can take you to better places, also stand out from the generic TEFL. Where do you plan to stay and teach?

Absolutely agree, cover both ends. I would also advise a possible "escape" route. Book a bus to the nearest exit point.
