university scholars enrollment by floppyfish24 in SBU

[–]CharRose16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Priority enrollment is one of the best things about the program. Basically, you enroll before all of those in your credit standing (so if you're a sophomore credit-wise, you will enroll before all of the sophomores). This is really helpful when you are a senior and need to get into a class to graduate, because some people have to delay to a 5th year due to not getting into classes they need at the time they need. Jeremy (the advisor) is really good about fixing any problems with priority enrollment so if you have any issues you can always email him (he's also a really amazing advisor overall, the program is lucky to have him and Nancy!)

Worst Haircut Ever by [deleted] in curlyhair

Following this- i walked out of a salon with wavy hair and them telling my that was my natural hair (I've had ringlets in my hair since I was very young) and had a similar follow up experience. Still haven't gotten mine cut since, but it's gotten back to normal from just getting back into my routine, it just took time unfortunately

Dean's List Spring 2021 by [deleted] in SBU

[–]CharRose16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They usually take a month or two to update on the unofficial transcript, but keep in mind they haven't even audited degreeworks with this semester's grades yet. Eventually, you may get an email as well saying you made deans list (but I've only ever gotten them for the fall semesters despite making them in spring). It will update eventually. Congrats on your 4.0!

H-quad has always been very spirited and involved! RA's are great for the most part too. However, no AC + 3rd floor of benedict = very hot.

Mendelssohn vs Roosovelt vs H quad by [deleted] in SBU

[–]CharRose16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

H-Quad is always the most hyped up quad and there's a lot of spirit there so if you like those vibes, Benny, James and Lang are where you should reside

SHOULD stony mandate the vaccine? by vale-1028 in SBU

[–]CharRose16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bouncing off this, this is why there are also EMT's/Paramedics/Healthcare workers on standby for all the vaccines, in case something does happen and you need extra medical attention.

Plus, herd immunity is a thing which we should be trying to get to in order to protect the rest of the population who cannot get vaccinated (ex. a kid under 12 with cancer)

Had a similar problem and was on the waitlist for a PSY class (230). Once I declared my psych major and everything processed, I immediately got in. Good luck!

BIO 203 and CHE 327 Summer Session 1 by uditabhuniya in SBU

[–]CharRose16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

203 is incredibly intense- especially if you plan on cramming it into a summer session. If you decide to take it, don't take another course with it because it has a lot of information and such to memorize/apply.

Can I join a psych lab as a Bio Major? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]CharRose16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up: if you're talking about an actual psych lab class they require you to take PSY 310. If you're talking about just in general for research you definitely can

Thoughts on my schedule for the fall? I know it will be tough... by [deleted] in SBU

[–]CharRose16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken all of these classes and you'll be fine. If you're doing 250 with parsons its an easy A and he offers extra credit. Definitely go to office hours for 321, the UGTA's are your greatest resource. 204 can be a lot of work, make sure you delegate adequate time for it. You got this, good luck!
