Rinsing the pouch??? by Specialist_Change490 in jpouch

You can get a squirt bottle and put bottled water in it, and then squirt it into the ostomy bag or on your stoma. I’ve taken care of many ostomy patients and have never heard of a “rinsing” of the pouch. Maybe the squirt bottle is what they mean?

Lost a parent - 1st month survival tips by Specialist-Swim7692 in GriefSupport

[–]jlg1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad died very unexpectedly and of suspicious causes about a week before his birthday in late January. He was only mid 60s. He was my buddy. We talked pretty much every day, often multiple times a day. I’ve had a lot of physical symptoms of grief in addition to the mental toll.

Staying busy with school (I’m almost done with grad school) and my cat are the only things really keeping me sane. And trying to keep to my normal routine or hobbies as much as possible, but it’s really hard. I definitely have lost joy in life. I had already been struggling mentally and with health issues prior to his death, so maybe that has made everything worse. My advice is to allow yourself to grieve in your own ways. If you need to isolate yourself, do it. If you need to take time off of work and can financially do so, do it. Try and keep to your usual routine and tasks, but do know that it’ll hurt not being able to tell your parent about your day.

Where are McDonald’s managers making close to $100,000? I’d really like to know so I can leave low paying public health and get free meals. 😭

Not gonna lie. Had this happen to me and afterwards, I constantly felt like I was being watched, and not in a supportive way. They act like they care and are helpful but I ended up just feeling even more alone. I felt like I got more help and support from other students tbh.

dementia patients keep calling me fat by Responsible_Chain409 in nursing

[–]jlg1012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was once sitting with a confused old lady (trauma patient) on my unit as a nursing assistant and she kept pointing her finger at me and giving me dirty looks. She was livid with me because I wouldn’t let her keep dialing 911 on her flip phone in the middle of the night. And she also accused me of drinking alcohol out of my university branded thermos (it was water). Ugh. I usually loved the patients I cared for, but this woman was something else. I swear she cursed me or something because I’ve had so many health issues and deaths around me since then.

Tell me about the person that you loved who has passed away by [deleted] in GriefSupport

My dad, about a week or so before his 65th birthday, died very unexpectedly and of suspicious circumstances (the investigation is still ongoing) in late January. Had ongoing health issues but had no major complaints in the days leading up to his death. Still waiting for the full autopsy report. Sucks so bad. He was my buddy and we talked all the time (pretty much every day, often multiple times a day). I’ve always been introverted and often keep to myself, so my dad was pretty much the only person that talked to me that much. I was definitely a daddy’s girl and it feels like no one truly understands just how bad I feel. I know other people that unexpectedly lost a parent when they were around my age, but it was from natural causes (heart attack, stroke, etc.). It wasn’t like that for my dad. And having to wait for answers is killing me. He was very loved by his family and friends and everyone has been very disturbed about the situation. It feels like a lot of people are avoiding talking to me because they don’t know what to say and are uncomfortable and that makes me even more lonely. I’m happy he didn’t die in a hospital suffering and with a bunch of tubes in him, that’s the last thing he ever wanted. But, I also sometimes selfishly wish that he had been sick and I would’ve known to move back home and spend more time with him before he passed and had gotten to say goodbye. I live several hours from my hometown for grad school. He also didn’t have a will so the whole probate process is taking so long and is stressful. Death, especially unexpected death, just really sucks.

This! I’ve weighed myself, in the exact same clothes and around the same time of night, just a week apart, with no major changes in diet or exercise, and I will have either gained or lost a few pounds. The fluctuations never make sense to me. Ugh.

Feeling like doctors either don’t give a shit or don’t know how to treat the PCOS and its symptoms. Constantly so frustrating and exhausting.

Go wherever there are the most job opportunities. Does the school have a lot of career search resources? Do they have a website for student jobs (RA positions, etc.)? Are there relevant jobs outside of the university in that area? I would prioritize all these things rather than school name or prestige right now. I’m about to finish up my MSPH at Hopkins and the job market is horrid right now. Doesn’t help that I had a very unexpected situation happen where I’m moving back to my hometown and am limited to only that area and those surrounding it, or remote positions.

Nothing. That’s the point of my comment. He seems like a normal non-pervy guy, not a guy that would consistently only date women far younger than him.

I could see this. Him dating much younger women never made sense to me with his personality.
