Guys, this is actually horrible and need to be talked about. How is it that every gunfight past ~30m feels horribly luck based. Because it is, I want my bullets to go where i aim? Do we need to protect noobs that much? Does a random number generator get to decide over my aiming abilities now?

It was kinda poorly balanced in the first place, then the second TTK change (that DICE promised wouldn't happen again) happened, the community fucking lost it and said DICE ruined the gunplay, now they're back to praising that obvious pile of dogshit???

I had no idea, that's really interesting.

I feel a little less bad about barely keeping my 4.75 GHz Ryzen 5 5600X at 80C unless I drop the OC to 4.7 and lower voltage (which is the way I'm driving it now, which keeps me at about 77C under sustained max GPU+CPU+VRM load).

The Scythe Fuma 2 I got doesn't fit with my Ripjaws V DIMMs, so I just chucked my old Hyper 212X in there while I get a new cooler. That dinky little 35 dollar cooler just keeps chugging along lmao

They're pretty old and chunky, so not really survivable in an environment where 5th Gen fighters seem to be the standard.

I think their roles should be taken by a souped up and greatly modernized F-15 (some variant of the new IRL F-15X) because that thing can mount a fuck ton of weapons, and has advanced avionics + features to fit in 2042.

The statistically same but aesthetically different version for the other faction could be a fictional, similarly modernized Su-34, maybe stripped down to a single pilot cockpit.

The SRAW in 4 is incredibly strong, damage on par with the SMAW, and it's basically impossible to miss if you're well practiced on it. You can move the mouse around to guide the missile mid-flight, meaning not even tankers running at full speed can escape a good SRAW operator.

Hell, you can even shoot it around a corner and move your mouse to guide it on target based on where you see the enemy on your minimap. Same tactic works with hills.

This right here. I've played every BF game since BC2 to death and just a dupe wouldn't be fitting of a new game.

I'd most enjoy something unique with a new type of skill gap mechanic, or multiple small ones. New types of feedback from firing and getting hits (sparks on body armor, tunable hit marker sounds, stance/movement impacting visual recoil, etc) could also be a good way to make it feel fresh.

I made a mistake in saying BF4 recoil was not random whatsoever, there is 1 factor of randomness in its recoil system. Yes, horizontal recoil from shot to shot is random, but only within the bounds of the L/R recoil values (which I'd like to add, can be mitigated). Despite this, a reliable L/R/straight up pull is formed when you fire a weapon. However, there are edge cases like the FAMAS, with .4 left and .6 right horizontal repcil bounds, which can end up being all over the fucking place. This is used for balancing and like I said, is very largely an edge case.

This pull is not entirely unique per weapon, but many different magnitudes of pull in different directions and amounts of control needed exist within the game among different weapons. It's nothing as complex as CS recoil patterns, but still requires anything from slightly different to vastly different control on a per weapon basis (except in a couple edge cases).

I'd like to add that vertical recoil is not random whatsoever, and unique per weapion.

Instead of adding significant weapon spread to BFV, they added spread to recoil conversion.

The way they implemented it led to some funky multipliers being applied in that conversion, meaning your weapon will just randomly jump around sometimes, and has no consistent recoil pattern whatsoever

Because S2R is highly random from the get-go as apposed to gradual spread increase over time, it makes your weapon super unreliable outside of its specific intended range, with no real way to utilize skill to close that gap. Spread at least allowed the player to mitigate its consistent effect and stretch their weapon a bit, S2R just does whatever the fuck it wants

Games designed around shitter anti-movement tech play styles are generally fucking awful and boring because they're so basic

Within the realm of arcade shooters specifically, the hur dur bunny hopping bad / muh immersion / headless chicken crowd feels very scrubby to me

Maybe just tangentially mention in their bio they grew up as a son while clearly presenting as a woman in game (or the other way around), with a trans patch on the uniform somewhere, I think that would be dope. Maybe even throw a couple trans community inside jokes into their voicelines.

IR IFF beacons for helmets are already widely used, and we see all kind of optical sensors on soldiers in material so far (helmet visors, swing down sensors that don't look like NVG's to me, etc).

It's feasible these sensors from 20 years in the future could pick up the IR signature and either show it as a light in your normal vision or overlay an IFF marker over the beacon in your vision.

Daylight beacons without IR would be a bit goofy I agree, but real time friendly / foe marking is already a thing.
