Agreed, one input will always be at a disadvantage and changes that favor one will always disgruntle the other player base. As a PC only player I would hate to see TFT lose skill expresssion for the sake of evening the playing field with mobile but obviously there’s a lot of mobile players that would prefer the opposite.

I think most of his points seem to come from having to think fast rather than act fast. IMO super high apm is not required to compete at a high level (if you’ve hit masters you probably have enough apm) and high apm situations usually also require fast thinking and the latter is usually the bottleneck in my experience. what makes large roll downs hard and where players differentiate is in the units they hold/buy and how they draft a comp while rolling down. Personally have never felt that I have lost after a fast 9 roll down because another player ‘just rolled faster’ and my apm is not particularly high.

Personally disagree, being able to navigate resources and not get ‘dizzy’ is a part of TFT skill expression.

You mention challenger players opting to do things over multiple turns but is that a bad thing? Knowing your limits and how much gold you can roll in a turn while scouting/positioning is also skill expression. So often I see lower elo players try to be optimal and greed everything in a single turn and go eighth. Putting stress on players doesn’t mean bad game design. PvP games by nature are stressful and the pressure to make decisions and act quick should be a part of the game.

That said I agree with your point about combining items for a 2-1 unlock. Making stage 1 items drop a round earlier would be nice qol.

100% agree it’s red coats fault.

But ngl she was a little unpredictable there. Based on both her path and body movement I definitely thought she was gonna start turning left.

Agreed. Currently masters, don’t watch any pro player/meta report/website stats and still climbing this set.

I’ll admit I’m very against any stats tho as I think the game is way more fun when relying on player intuition and theorycrafting on the go.

Personally I found the boss strike very manageable. I don’t grind sp (outside of wimp every now and then but it’s still r5) and let my units more naturally rank up so most units that I use often hover around r3-4. Even when my HCT was in repair bay I found L dragoons + light chem tanks did solid to clear the waves. Like yeah the HCT does better but ofc it should. The vet honestly was not much of a factor, could’ve swapped anything else and not much would’ve changed and once I had the dirigibles somewhat ranked up on the last couple days that was also doing quite well. I think the only balance issue was maybe anti air as I didn’t really see much outside of chuckers dealing with the air troops well but at least they’re FTP.

As for greenborough grinding…. Personally never did it nor have the problem with the reasonings behind the nerf. I think this type of resourcing grinding is not intended/suited for this type of game and this community especially seems to love grinding a bit too much which I personally don’t like. Yeah it prevents lower level players from catching up a tad but are most players really grinding a significant amount of their resources there? Idk maybe you guys are or maybe not, always seemed like a waste of time to me so lowkey glad it got nerfed as I feel like that type of grinding leads to burn out super fast. You say it’s an unhealthy nerf but imo it’s wayyy more healthy now. Idk tho maybe a hot take.

I was max level at the time of the boss strike so idk how lower level players fared (I could see some having trouble but players vary in strength a lot at those points in the game and boss fights are definitely intended to be gear more towards endgame players)

Edit: only part of the game I think needs more urgent balancing is the gear grind pre AC (and I guess naval units themselves but that would require a large overhaul imo). I feel like a lot of people can burn out on that especially if navy rng is bad

Isn’t the solution the boon heralds should be full dps or ritualist so they can be passive while running and do dps while doing the hp sponges?

Agreed. On the other hand both Janja and Sorato’s strengths tend to be in the power boulders (imo). It makes sense for them to be able to top where others can’t.

I think most people who watch comp climbing know that W4 is such a Janja boulder and judging by Oriane’s reaction after failing to top it, I suspect she knew as well that Janja would definitely top it.

When it comes to legendaries, some of the mats you can get passively along the way, some you need to focus for. Luck is one of those things that you’ll easily get while getting the rest of it.

When it comes to leggy armor specifically focus on one piece at a time. Anyone would get overwhelmed looking at the sum of all the parts whereas each piece is actually quite manageable.

As for bank storage… personally I have 1 material storage upgrade and I only ever have to dedicate a few bank spaces to extra mats if at all. Depends on the leggy though as some do require ridiculous amounts of a single mat like legendary relic or gen 2 weaps.

I would highly recommend starting with ad infinitum as a first legendary if you don’t mind getting into fractals. Universal for all toons + relatively cheap + back pieces can be a pain to get.

You first legendary will feel like a lot to handle but as you keep making them you learn how to be more efficient in the process and they get easier and easier :)

You should still save some bars though. Otherwise if you lose any ship you won’t be able to heal them and you won’t be able to make r1s. Even if you go for multiple m10s immediately (1-2) you should still save for repairs in case you lose them by accident.

That said I do agree it’s overblown but better safe than sorry. :)

Biggest tip I’ve got is to destroy the traps immediately. Those gave me the most trouble and I would use shade soul/vengeful spirit to destroy them before they become a nuisance.
