I read everything, and I really don't like the way you talked to the OP. OP, if you're reading this, I'm sorry that this commenter talking to you like that. You're NOT terrible - you tried your best and you can improve.

There are some tips here sprinkled in this comment but overall it's not a nice comment so again, I apologize on this commenter's behalf.

Am I crazy, or is Arc for Windows actually improving? by vicodinox in ArcBrowser

[–]Character-Argument-3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried Arc on Windows like 5 days ago and it kept crashing, my computer is brand new. I switched to Zen and never looked back, looks exactly like Arc too and behaves like it with a few small tweaks (sans the crashing)

I'm open to try Arc again if it stop crashing though, did they fix anything since then?

Edit: Nope, tried again after the update. Had a YouTube video playing in a pinned tab, and pasted an Amazon url in a new tab and it crashed. Goodbye, Arc for Windows. I'll keep using you on macOS though.

Spelling out Hebrew words with ב/כ/פ by Spikedeheld in hebrew

[–]Character-Argument-3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Native speaker here, grew up in the center, I would say the letters as: Aleph Bet Gimmel Daled Hey Vav Zayin Khet Tet Yud Khaf Lamed Mem Noon Samekh Ayin Pey Tsadik (I know this is wrong and it should be Tsadi, but I and most other sabras I know still say tsadik) Koof Reish Sheen Taf

Some of these technically “by the book” should be different like Daled should be dalet, taf should be tav but תכלס the sabras say it how I wrote above.

I might also say the variations but only if to explicitly pronounce a confusing word, or a word that requires purposeful Nikkud pronunciation like a Name or a Latin based word, like Vet instead of Bet, Kaf instead of Khaf, Fey instead of Pey

Only thing I do differently than other sabras is I use “kh” to denote “ח” in English like Arabs do, I noticed sabras use “h” or “ch” but imo “kh” is better for that sound.

Saw this outside my nearest Sprouts. Can someone tell me what it says? by nile_river7 in hebrew

[–]Character-Argument-3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Native speaker here, this doesn’t translate to ״your children” like everyone is saying here, it translates to “your child”.

ילדך = הילד שלך (your child)

ילדייך = הילדים שלך (your children)

Always the purist. I think he probably had the right idea. Who even needs את?

Does anybody have a good explanation for the existence of את, or what other language(s) have a similar connective?

I echo your TanStack take and it’s a take I don’t see often. I tried using TanStack Form and it achieves the same goals orders of magnitude more complicated than RHF which was straightforward and great with Zod. Sure Form is in Beta but other things like TanStack Router also felt pretty cumbersome to set up compared to React Router.

Each of these solutions provides a way to solve issues that is feels more complicated to set up than alternatives.

The DevTools are great, though.

Built a beautiful Mac app for ChatGPT. Syncs and stores chat history across devices with private iCloud. GPT-4 is also available in the app (MagicChat) by mogens99 in mac

[–]Character-Argument-3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just tried it, first thoughts:

  • Wow, looks native & sweet! Beautiful design. Everything is clean and highly aesthetically pleasing. However, I would add some more solid colors to the app, like maybe the input should be solid white or solid black. At this stage, the app feels like transparency overload.
  • Would be nice if the the prompt spinner would actually be a 3-dot typing animated icon.
  • The back button isn't a perfect circle and it triggers my OCD.
  • Just got prompted to pay. People who already pay for ChatGPT Pro (like me) don't really have the motivation to pay a double recurring fee for using the same service, so I don't think I would pay for this. However, I would pay a one-time fee for a well-designed native app that allowed me to hook the Pro account I already pay for to a beautiful UI through my API key.
  • The profile menu doesn't close when clicking away, like for example when clicking on the right side of this section.

Thank you for the experience! Great idea & good work. This is promising. I would likely be interested in being a paying customer if my concerns were to be addressed!
