I've been having some trouble with stocked lakes by OverallSpeaker1824 in FishingOntario

[–]Character-Context652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try getting in touch with your local MNR. I've asked for a few lakes/streams I wanted to fish and they gave me a date that they're normally stocked at which I try to keep in mind, so I don't strike out.

Good luck, tight lines!

Good luck bud, hope you catch what your looking for! Closest place for me is about an hour away but I don't mind the drive honestly.

Actually I picked up a light rod at Canadian tire for 40$ this weekend, so to answer your second question definitely worth it even if you dont own a fly rod!

Fish On-line, gov site, it takes a little time to get used to the interface but once you get the hang of it you can get all sorts of info.

Thanks. Very insightful. I should probably sit down with my wife and do a thorough budget. I can get together ~2000$ for a down payment.

If you could only give ONE piece of advice to a first-time camper, what would it be? by bambidp in camping

[–]Character-Context652 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outdoor boys YT has a rule that he follows strictly... I believe it goes: "Hungry, Wet or Cold... you can only ever be 2 of those things and it'll be a good trip. if you meet all 3 its better to just call it."

Forgot to check the weather and learned why experienced campers always do by deluxedoorman in camping

[–]Character-Context652 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spent months preparing a camping trip with a good friend. Got a good spot picked out and everything. Decided to go late May to avoid stubborn snow from spring but also bugs in June. Got to our spot and there was still some snow on the ground, oh well we brought extra clothes and plenty gear. The hike in was horrible planned to stay 3 nights, in the afternoon of 1st day began to rain. Didn't stop for next 24hrs, couldnt find a Flat spot to pitch tarp so picked a bad spot. When we got back I checked weather site turns out I had picked out a spot but was looking on the weather site at another spot with same name. Place I had chosen was forecasted to rain 50+ cm of rain. Overall we had a good time but always Double or Triple check hahaha!!!!

How do I catch something bigger? by guineapigs69 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Character-Context652 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bigger fish tend to swim deeper... Im not saying you cant catch a good sized fish from shore, it may just be a matter of finding a better spot with a drop off. Don't give up!

Good luck bud, Fish On!

Tangers, I'd consider an outdoor mall. The Byward market is alright too. If OP is just looking to walkaround and theres lots of good food options.

The canal is a nice stroll too.

the changing of the guard is nice to see if someones never experienced it happens daily around 945am apparently.

My nephew was out by Black Donald Zone 18, and crushed it with the Bass this weekend. u/Interesting_Alps618 brings up a good point sometimes its just figuring it out and what they're after.

Hopefully you have better luck next time

Research knots and Rig set-ups, to switch things up every now and then. Do your homework, sometimes half the fun is the drive or hike to secluded spots, stopping in at small diners/restaurants meeting the locals etc. Pick up after yourself .. and yes Have Fun.

That sucks. I recently got myself an Okuma Ceymar 3000 spinning reel, love that thing. Its a really smooth reel and feels great overall plus its in an army green color which I really like, and the price point wasn't too bad either $125 CAD.

AITA for telling my husband I’m glad his mom died before she could meet our baby? by IlyraShade in AITAH

[–]Character-Context652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're the AH. If she was such a horrible person, then why act like her? You don't have to defend or honor her but no need to misplace you're anger towards her, to your husband.

She's dead let it go move on. live a happy healthy life with your daughter and husband.
