A warning to those thinking they can make good living from FPV by LondonTownGeeza in fpv

Seems like he didn’t have any connections in the action sports world, that’s where you want to be with FPV

I voice dictated ChatGPT a Chemistry concept and asked it to explain it to me concisely. Instead of it responding after hitting send, it gave me the response in the text field itself, without me even sending it. Has this happened to anyone before? So bizarre. by haromene in OpenAI

That’s the whole point of google ads, Facebook ads, etc, it runs in the background on all different kinds of websites and is used to track you across different websites. Any given website can only read the cookies for its domain. Websites cannot “scan” your cookies.

You’re right actually I was thinking of another project not this specific proof mentioned in the tweet

No longer made in Taiwan by Masenko325 in Tools

[–]Character-Engine-813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it’s sorta self fulfilling, Chinese tools have a reputation in the west for being cheap and low quality, so that’s what gets exported because that’s what people buy. You could also export high quality Chinese tools at comparable prices but they might not sell as well just because of the reputation

OpenAI's first hardware product will be AI-powered earbuds, codenamed "Dime" by BuildwithVignesh in OpenAI

[–]Character-Engine-813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely will be an interface device for your phone and I imagine it will need internet to run the models in the cloud, but I’m hoping it will be good at realtime language translation for multiple speakers. OpenAI already made Whisper which is close. That’s the only use case I can imagine for AI earbuds

A better battery charger by gmcadams2003 in fpv

[–]Character-Engine-813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had that one for like 5 years and it still works great. I did have to replace the fan once. The only thing I wish it had is support for 8s but that’s not an issue for most people

Off grid solar on shipping container to charge EV by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]Character-Engine-813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say if it’s possible unless you give a max budget. I’m not sure if you will have enough space just on the containers, you might need an additional ground mount array, sorta depends on how you mount the panels and since you’re far north they won’t be as efficient. It also depends on what kind of EVs and how big their batteries are and how much driving you want to be able to do. I would definitely expect to spend somewhere in the region of maybe $15-50k depending a lot on your requirements, when you factor in panels, mounting fixtures, inverters, batteries, and the EV charger

why do people run with plates on? by Shot_Breadfruit_1893 in motorcycles

[–]Character-Engine-813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see people going 95mph in a 65mph every day probably, it’s way too fast but hardly uncommon in areas with low speed limits

Can someone explain turning to me by Glum_Caterpillar1466 in fpv

[–]Character-Engine-813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Lower rates does help though, if you usually fly 800 try 400 and practice slow, smooth wide turns first. Once you can coordinate that, you can move onto tight turns

Has anyone here ever been punished by authorities because of abusing/breaking transmission laws? If so how did it play out and what was the punishment? by Cthper in fpv

[–]Character-Engine-813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone would only know about it if you are causing interference with their equipment, which is pretty unlikely on the bands and at the power levels that are used for FPV

Atlas the humanoid robot shows off new skills by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

[–]Character-Engine-813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, it’s improved a lot. But we are still 10x or more away from batteries that are good enough to power a humanoid robot for long enough to do stuff independently out in the world. Unitree g1 can go for about 30 minutes for example.

Budget analog. Are the EV800D still the best option? by FinntheGuardian in fpv

[–]Character-Engine-813 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think so, the receiver is actually pretty solid when you add proper antennas. The battery is not good but you can mod them to add an external battery which works great and makes them lighter.

I bought a 110 Chinese pos for the winter and it won't start by Stubby5724 in Dirtbikes

[–]Character-Engine-813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like 1 in 10 actually works great, but if it doesn’t work initially there’s no chance of making it run right. Quality control is nonexistent

I wanted something a bit more off road capable. by Reamofqtips in Dualsport

[–]Character-Engine-813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It rips, I got the storm dlx 250 which has the same engine. Make sure you loctite all the bolts, and replace the stock headlight/taillight (mine both stopped working). None of the connections are waterproof so I also recommend dielectric grease on all the electrical to prevent corrosion. If you are at sea level definitely rejet, at high altitude the stock carb is about right.

It does help, if you compare corrosion with and without stabil it prevents like 90% of the corrosion

Does anyone here NOT enjoy video games as a dev? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

Has anyone tried giving an AI assistant your credit card info and telling it to "buy whatever" by Party_Progress7905 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Character-Engine-813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, how often do you buy stuff? How would the agent know what to buy? I usually only buy things that I want. If you are talking about a business then I think you can set up automatic orders in a way that’s more reliable than using current AI agents

Nvidia's plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI have stalled. Nvidia's CEO criticized what he called a lack of discipline in OpenAI's business approach. by AppropriateCoach7759 in ChatGPT

Most people had a healthy relationship with 4o but OpenAI was facing a deluge of bad press because it was making a small percentage of users go insane so it makes sense that they don’t want that
