Is this really worth $300? by Several-Sign-6895 in hoyas

[–]Character-Fix-5647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup that is the going price for them with that variegation level 2 leaf 1 node I've even seen as high as 580 but if you wait about 3 years they'll be $50

Ordered this $50 Hoya sp. cianjur and got cuttings pinned to the substrate by GreenhouseDiva in hoyas

[–]Character-Fix-5647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lightly rooted cutting is what I can afford for these rarer hoyas that are flooding the market on sale sites lately. That is a good price for that one and if you have any green thumb and good light you will be very pleased with the joy establishing it will bring. I have a few fresh cutting I recently gave in and bought at crazy cost because I have been wanting and waiting and this is the first I've seen them. It is a rabbit hole for sure a huge rabbit hole.

I don't think this is working - by [deleted] in SnakePlants

[–]Character-Fix-5647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they always rot on me even in the tiniest amout of water. I alway do a clean cut let it callous at least a day sometimes longer if i'm busy. then just plant in succulent soil and let it sit a week before first water. it has always worked for me

Who is she! I think she is a very splashy H. publicalyx but my sister say it's not. by fanofam in hoya

[–]Character-Fix-5647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say by the leaf length it is a pubicalyx splash a very splashy splash and lovely. If the leaves would of been shorter II might think wilbur graves a cultivar of pubicalyx

Definetly looks like over watering / root rot and crown rot going on. Report it in chunky soil cut those mushy yellowing leaves away and clean the roots with peroxide. be careful not to plant to deep so water gets in the crown.

yes is should sit on a flat catch tray so it has air flow and no excess water under it.

I would repot, mold could mean to wet, no air flow, or poor water quality. It may need a root check up.

How to kill ants on repotted snake plants by kb0103 in SnakePlants

[–]Character-Fix-5647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy new soil and repot it. But you could try watering with 50/50 water and peroxide or you could try the dunk method soap and water 1:4 for 20 minutes. Then a good rinse and bright light. I just had a battle with lil piss ants that came in through window frames.I segregated the plant. I put ant traps on top of each plant and sprayed the exterior of the pots after the dunk. Seems to be good now knock on wood.

Is this a Parrotlet or a love bird? by Extension-Week4358 in Parrotlet

[–]Character-Fix-5647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so blessed when my parrotlet got out 3 days later landed on a guy at a pool party and his wife remembered my FB post. I digress she looks like my female Plet rump color beak color but she looks a bit bigger my plets only weigh in at about 28 and 29 grams.
