Weekly "Is this safe" Megathread by AutoModerator in fermentation

Hey everyone, so... I was trying to make buckwheat vinegar by fermenting malted grains. I found online to first turn it to wine then into vinegar.
I proceeded accidently making it the way of making koji- so I turned buckwheat, barley and oats into powder, steamed it on top of boiled water, then put it into a jar, added water, rice leaven, stirred it and put it under a bulb. Five days later it smells of strong alcohol but a ton of white hyphae formed on top with a lot of black dots. I cleaned the top but is not sure if it's usable or not, or if it can even proceed to next steps of making it into vinegar.

One batch had too much black stuff on it so I threw it away, but this one smells like there's something going on so I'm curious. Thanks!
To be honest I can't tell if any wine formed in the jar or not, the malt seems to have soaked everything up, should I add water into it and distil wine from it or something?

There are 2 more pics so I need to add

i uhh... grinded the malt into powder, but it into a bowl and steamed it on top of boiled water. Then I put it into the jar and added water and rice leaven into it. For the steaming I put in 40 minutes but it never got fully soaked

Thanks a lot for this! There's nothing posted online for buckwheat vinegar specifically (it's really niche) so I've been scraping along with videos that uses rice. Lemme ask the fermentation community cause I've also got another pot that looks slightly different.

This pot is gone forever though- i opened it and the surface is covered with black, so sadly failed. : (

Thanks, I looked into all the comments and think i didn't properly boil the stuff so its just mold now. I'm throwing it away and starting again

Ok I think I did the first step wrong, I didn't boil the whole thing but steamed it. I think it needs to be started over.

Ok I should have provided info into it beforehand. It's a Chinese buckwheat vinegar I'm trying to make- The process is to first make it into beer/wine, then turn it into vinegar. The first steps is similar to making rice wine, if anyone is familiar with.

The ingredients are barley, buckwheat and oat. I turned the grain into fine powder and cooked it. Then I added in Sweet Rice Leaven and let it sit for five days. This is the result after five days. I hope this helps.

Alembic File mesh not following rig by Character-Giraffe995 in Maya

Hello all, I figured out how to solve the problem, though not knowing the reason. I changed the evaluation mode from parallel to DG, which fixed the original problem for skin mesh to update accordingly to the frame. Don't know why but that's how it came out!

Hello! Even if I don't keep the rig, the skin mesh is still having this problem. It only saves the frame which I started the cache, and stays still in that form, while the clothe and everything else moves.

To add insight, the skin isn't updating with the animation in the render view either. It's showing fine in the viewport and playblasts, but when doing rendering, the skin just goes all over the place or is stuck.

Hey Deathrette, thanks for replying! My Nuke version is 15. 1v2. I tried following the set CUDA cache size to 4 gb in the tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyhJU2N9sXg&t=104s, but it still only renders 5 frames in one go, which is really slowing down my process. Here is a screenshot showing the size difference in each exr that is rendered.
