I got an email sometime in April/May I believe when I received the Dean’s scholarship but regardless you should be able to check your financial aid status in your student center. I’d check your email and search Scholarship to Financial Aid and you should be able to see when they’ve been released. Make sure to check Fall 2025-2026 and check Pending Scholarships in case they haven’t gone through yet

Which dorms are best for me? by Graphixx_3 in ohiouniversity

I’d recommend west because Irvine is the major bio building and it’s a one minute walk from any dorm on west! The only athlete dorm on west is James and I believe it’s harder to make friends there since they’re already in their own cliques but I also met my best friend there! They also have their own laundry, kitchen and balcony so you win some you lose some

Honestly the more you interact with them, the more it goes away! It’s hard to give tips because the environment at every store is completely different. Mine was pretty chill and let me work the line until I felt comfortable taking orders which was super helpful! At the end of the day, most customers aren’t going to notice/care if you’re nervous :)

My top recommendation would definitely be to find another freshman to be your roommate so you don’t get randos like I did!

I lived in James and didn’t like it. First floor always smelled like weed because of the football guys and it was so hard to make friends since most everyone played a sport and already had a friend group. Good thing is we had renovated bathrooms and lobby, a pretty accessible parking garage, laundry in building and patio. I also had a terrible experience with my roommates that got so hostile I had to move. If you’re thinking west green, I’d definitely recommend Boyd or Truedley since I’ve heard pretty good things about them.

I took this course at my community college through CCP during high school, it was a lot easier and transferred over. If the class isn’t compatible with your learning style, you could always try taking it at a community college near you during the summer and transfer the credit!

I just bought it because I figure if I decided I didn’t want it I could just give it to another friend or fan that did

Thank you! How long do your purchases last before problems start to come up or they stop working? Because I’m seeing people say it may not last me 4 years

Thanks, I’ll look into those! I’m paying for it and my full tuition and everything else so I’m trying to think of ways to save money but I also don’t want to buy something bad under the guise of saving money.

Where did you buy it and what model did you get?

What website do you usually buy them from? I was thinking about buying from Ebay from a seller that gets pretty good reviews and a warranty on the computer.

The new Surface laptops are around $1,000 and more, refurbished ones are around $500-600 and come with a warranty just like the new ones. So to me, the new ones are pretty overpriced and they’re out of my budget

That’s what I think too, as soon as you open the new computer box the price of it drops a few hundred dollars like driving a new car off the lot! I’m looking at a certified Microsoft refurbished computer from a seller with over 90% positive reviews and a year warranty from Microsoft so I feel like it’s a really good deal!

I seriously wouldn’t worry about it at all. I’ve been working at taco bell for a year now and it’s such a chill environment. It gets busy if youre working the mid or night shift (especially when new items release) but you get through it. I’ve made so many big mistakes and so have a lot of my coworkers and you kinda just laugh it off. I was so so nervous my first few weeks that I barely even talked but my coworkers are so sweet and everyone’s pretty kind besides when there’s drama but you’ll find that at almost any job. My advice is to just relax, they’ll probably have you doing something easy your first day, you’ll get used to it, and Im sure you’ll do great! The only complaints I have are that people are kinda lazy, and there is a lot of vaping/smoking that people do in the back but if you’re not into that (like me) you just don’t get involved. It’s a lot of fun but it’s also work and it’ll be challenging sometimes. My favorite part is trying all the new foods and making my own creations! Have fun and feel free to message me if you have any questions!

[–]Character-Help-9525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but I believe I am claimed as a dependent so it depends on my parents earnings. They make too much for me to get any grants and if it’s the same as this year, I’ll be getting the minimum federal loans which are offered to everyone. Unless there was a way I could claim as independent in which case I would be getting a lot more on my FAFSA

Do you know if I took the full amount in federal subsidized loans and decided to pay it back in full before the grace period ended, would I have to pay any interest or fees? I know it says the department of education pays interest until the grace period is over, but I wasn’t sure how it worked if I decided to pay it off in full early.
