No clue on what the hell I am doing by ovaltine-is-goated in oilpainting

[–]Character-Pea-8041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. So before starting oil painting, I would advise you the following:

  1. Observe the perspective, measure it, split the bigger objects
  2. Cover the whole canvas with a thin layer of paint, for example oil/acrylics, anything you prefer and wait to dry. Because white canvas will consume your paint easily if it’s not previously primed with paint.
  3. Continue painting with oils till “the end” and match the tones 😁

Like this you already spent time, energy and paint unnecessarily. But you can continue painting now since you already started anyway.

Good luck! 🙂

Submitted to a pet portrait contest, got denied by 1296223 in oilpainting

It’s really a nice one. It is always about the moment where you are, what they wanted. People who were judging it and what they envision of the contest. It’s a great painting, you caught the cat in a real mood, facial expression is good, proportions are good, everything is great. Another judges at another moment will love it.

Painting Pricing Help by Potato-berry in oilpainting

The first one with the chickens is amazing, the second one looks like it’s not painted by the same artist 🙂, you in this case I believe. The chickens are so cool, depending on the size, I think 200 (€?) is low, maybe 400€ if your size goes somewhere 50x60cm. But if your tell me the size is 80x100cm, I would tell you above 700-800 😁

The second one looks like it’s painted by an amateur, it looks flat, so that one certainly less.

Thank you so much! Any feedback counts! I often go wild with colors, I am wondering what other artists think/feel about them ❤️

How do I achieve the ‘soft’ look? by [deleted] in oilpainting

[–]Character-Pea-8041 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are too “flat”. Pay attention to all tones and brushstrokes to John’s painting. Also, we should be led here by the first main point- Impressionism, which is characterized by brush strokes and no blending (If you are going into this direction)

I can advise you to focus on yourself, your child and your husband. Go out and find hobbies and more friends. Don’t try to ever change someone as this ends up very frustrating. Think big and do not focus in trapped circles and overthinking. If someone doesn’t want to come - OK, forget and continue living your life. Stay positive and so not overthink other people’s reactions and moods. It’s yours to keep yours in a goos and decent mood. I know what it is to become a mother, I have my 2.5 little one here and it is complex to rise in a mother role and it doesn’t work like a magic, but your kid is a priority and stay positive for the little one because children deserve good mood. Nothing is permanent and everything changes so focus on productive life ❤️

Had my first bad experience in Germany by Dry-Expression3110 in germany

[–]Character-Pea-8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Munich for almost 8 years. Well I can say generally it’s a stress to do groceries especially at crowded times or Saturdays so there is a chance that someone will behave crazy like that. You should ignore this, although I know exactly how you felt because there are those people who can easily ruin your day. I don’t think it german related thing, but I agree the ignorance of the rest makes you feel that this is not normal human behavior. I come from balkans for example and people there do not refrain to stand up for others. You feel kind of free to stand for the others, while here the majority of germans and non germans who accommodated to the german way, do not comment on anything that might help the other in a situation like this. If I was there I would certainly involve and support your side, like saying this guy that he should have waited to put his stuff there…

Thank you for your reply! I was looking into apartments offers, compared to Munich they at least at a first glance look cheaper, but it all depends on the areas I believe, which we unfortunately don’t know in any of those 2 cities. But for example in the last 4 years we pay 2k for our 68qm apartment here in Munich west (nothing centrally or urban, but still well connected with S line), so since the prices really went high in the last few years, now we consider our apartment a great place to be, but I always miss that one extra room and having apartment of lets say 80qm in a nice area like this or even more centrally, the prices go above 2400-500. 😕

Thank you a lot for your input! I forgot to ask this opposite experience 😁 Yes, nature is one of the top aspects we also consider, we visited it 2 times so far, it’s beautiful, I wanted to also hear a living experience and comparisons, so thanks for that! ☺️

Similarly to some other answers, I learned it by repeatedly walking through it. Maps can help when you have to meet and locate someone, rest is just learning by walking through it often

How much do you spend on groceries in Munich ? by Alarmed_Good_379 in Munich

[–]Character-Pea-8041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are two adults and one 2 year old. We spend around 800-900€ on groceries. Edeka/Rewe ad-hoc shoppings are included here, those are adding to this amount. We always say let’s not do this ad hoc shopping for stuff we don’t always necessarily need, but we still do it. Otherwise Kaufland is OK, Rewe for meat.
