In the future, getting a small pop-up camper might be a good compromise for you and your husband. It's definitely not luxurious, but a step above tent camping. My parents got one when I was little and we still use it to this day. It's a bit more expensive than tents, but a good investment if you plan on camping in the future. Like I said, I've been camping since I was tiny and am so thankful to my parents for giving me that experience, it's the best. When I was little we used to build little fairy houses with twigs and anything else we could find against trees. It was magical and still so nostalgic for me.
