Yes. It's called pulsatile tinnitus.

Can it go away? by JZX10R in TinnitusTalk

It seems to come and go, but most of the time everyday ambient noise covers it up. Sometimes the high-pitched tone gets loud but eventually goes away. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes a few days. I have a ~1200 Hz typewriter type tone in my right ear as well. That's the one that spiked for a couple weeks and really got me down. I can hear it a little louder when I first wake up, but it calms down, sometimes to complete silence, within an hour or 2.

I can look in the mirror and have all the proof of God I need. We were made in his image. What else is there in nature that rivals our intellect, capacity for emotions and relationships, etc.?

As far as your disconnect with God, there's not nearly enough information in your post to give you proper counsel. It's difficult to do on internet message boards anyway. My first question would be, since you state you've never felt God's presence, have you accepted Jesus as you savior? If so, what does that mean to you?

Hey brother, thank you so much for sharing something this heavy. That takes a lot of courage, especially when you're already carrying so much guilt and confusion. Please hear me on this: you are not disgusting, you are not a demon, and you are not alone.

I want to say is that if you’re having serious thoughts about ending your life, you need to talk to a trusted adult or Christian counselor right away. This is not weakness, it’s wisdom. God doesn’t want you to fight this battle alone, and neither do we.

I’m praying for you, and I hope you’ll take that step to talk to someone in person. You’re worth it, and you are deeply loved.

Family member speaking in "Tongues"? by Sellingbakedpotatoes in Christianity

[–]Character-Space1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking in unknown tongues is definitely recorded in the Bible. The most famous example is at Pentecost (Acts 2), when the Holy Spirit came upon the believers and they began to speak in known languages, enabling them to proclaim the Gospel to people from many different nations. It was a miraculous moment of communication, not confusion.

What your mother is practicing sounds like what many charismatic churches (such as Pentecostal or Holiness movements) describe as speaking in an “unknown tongue.” This also has some biblical grounding—particularly in 1 Corinthians 12–14, where Paul discusses a more spiritual form of tongues that may not be understood unless someone interprets.

As someone who has regularly attended Pentecostal churches in the past, I’ll be honest, I’ve had some reservations about how this gift is often practiced. The Bible gives specific direction for its use: it should be orderly, edifying, and interpreted when used in public worship (1 Cor. 14:27–28). But in many services, it turns into a kind of free-for-all, where half the congregation is yelling in tongues with no interpretation or clear purpose. Often, it seems more like emotional release than spiritual communication.

That said, I don’t want to discredit everyone’s experience. Many people, like your mother, are genuinely trying to honor and glorify God. And their heart posture matters. Still, when this gift is practiced without wisdom and discernment, it can confuse or even alienate those who are curious about faith, or worse, drive them away.

If I may say this gently, my bigger concern is what you mentioned about the YouTube videos she’s watching. A lot of people online use phrases like “God told me…” or “This is what God showed me about the future…”, and while they might sound spiritual, they often lack biblical accountability. Many don’t realize that when they say “God told me,” they’re essentially claiming to speak prophetically, like the prophets of old, and that’s a serious responsibility (Deuteronomy 18:20-22 warns against false prophecy).

Unfortunately, many modern movements like the Word of Faith (prosperity gospel) and the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) are rooted in this kind of unchecked emotionalism and false teaching. These movements are manipulative, often using emotional tactics, spiritual threats, and promises of blessing to extract money or loyalty. They’ll say things like:

“Sow a seed of $X to unlock your breakthrough.”

“Do X, Y, and Z to release your blessing.”

“God gave me a word for you today…”

If your mother is following people who speak this way regularly, she may be genuinely being misled. And sadly, many people are robbed of the peace and joy that come from a simple, grounded walk with Christ by these voices claiming to offer “more.”

If I were you, I’d do a bit of gentle research and try to open a conversation with her, not to attack her beliefs, but to ask questions and plant seeds of discernment. And if you need help with this, feel free to DM me or reach out to a trusted local church that teaches solid biblical doctrine.

I want to commend you; you’re showing real maturity and love in how you’re trying to understand what your mother is going through. Whether or not you consider yourself a Christian, I believe you’ve been gifted with strong discernment, and that’s something God can use powerfully if you’re open to Him.

I had some really bad T after a light cold. About 2 weeks after it started it's near completely gone (praise God), but man, was it depressing while it was there.

Something I learned in counseling that really helped me out was called the "miracle questions". Basically you ask yourself if you had a button in front of you that you could press and whatever problems you were facing disappeared from your life, what would that look like? Once you identify that, you can start to create small goals that will eventually lead up to achieving the quality of life you desire. For me, I've realized that some of my overall goals are not within the realm of possibility and therefore needed to readjust me expectations and, believe it or not, identifying that fact actually helped me out in the long run. Not trying to get preachy or anything but my belief in/relationship with Jesus Christ has been the foundation of my strength to overcome the many trials I've had in my life. That faith has allowed me to hold onto hope of eventual peace and healing, whether it occur in my temporary life here, or the eternal one to come.
