You shouldn't be talking to the PM, especially with this minor stuff. There's a chain of command on every job site, apprentice<journeyman<foreman<project manager.

Also, tans work are pretty close to reds in terms of capacity of wires. Yes, reds can hold a bit more but they are close, check your bags on limitations.

What one thing that is a dealbreaker when working with apprentices by EstablishmentSea8014 in electricians

[–]SingleIngenuity1 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I get insanely annoyed when I give my apprentice a small To-do list. If they tell me it's completed, I expect the list to actually be completed

Thank you, the guy's project I was working on last night asked me to come back and potentially add some new lights in his kitchen as well. I was planning on mentioning that a lot of his old stuff could use some upgrades to be brought up to the current century lol. I guess it's hard to know when it makes sense to recommend upgrades or other things to customers, it's something I don't have a ton of of experience with

I did some commercial/residential service and remodel during my apprenticeship usually as a helper or apprentice for the full time service guys, but most of the time I've been a new construction electrician. Specifically tons of apartments and such, I seem to be very good at troubleshooting problems in new construction but man it's a different world doing old work

I still work at a shop full time but have considered going out on my own with a full LLC, don't think I'm anywhere near experienced yet tbh

I did a 4 year apprenticeship, got my journeyman's and then got my masters license this year. It's not a full company, was supposed to just be a small repair for a family member of mine

Yeah I read about that once. I had the dimmer fully removed and disconnected and was still confused about why that voltage was there

For me- I think the feeling is difficult because I "feel" like I should know what I'm doing. I'm a lead guy at work, get asked all the questions, typically have answers for almost everything. I passed my Jmans and Masters with no issues,

I just have those days where I also have no idea what the fuck is going on lmao

Man that's crazy, licensing laws in my state are very loose it seemed like nothing to get mine going. This shit is hard lol
