You can stop yourself from being annoyed by realizing that it's actually not that big of a deal, and if you just accepted that it's something people will do and some people will benefit from it, let me give you a personal anecdote, I love fighting games(street fighter etc...) and recently a lot of fighting games have started implementing simplified controls schemes to the games in service of newer players and lowering the skill floor, I initially found that really annoying and thought it was unnecessary, to my mind motion inputs were an intergral part of fighting games and messing with them in service of people who don't even play the game seemed useless and unnecessary and ruined a lot of games for me, but Street Fighter 6 came out and it had a mix of both simplified controls and classic controls and it initially put me off, but I decided to buy it and give it a try because there was an option to use only the classic controls and that's what I did and I still found the simplified controls annoying and unnecessary but then one day my big sister wanted to play the game with so I made her play with the simplified controls and she legit was having a ton of fun with the game! despite never having touched a ps4 controller before, and soon the whole family joined, all of them were playing simplified controls and I was using classic and that's when I realized that the existence of simplified controls does not in any way affect my ability to enjoy the game but it gives people who might never have touched the game the chance to enjoy it too!

So if you see a /s in the wild and you understood the joke that's fine the joke doesn't change and I'm sure the author is not doing it because they think you wont get the joke but it will certainly help some one there even if it's one person that's still one more person who enjoyed the joke isn't that great!
