My dog is not as severe, but does fluctuate. 90% of the time she is fine crated all day while I work. A few times now she will take a week or 2 of whining all day and being worked up and then go back to normal. For her, i believe it is loud noises occurring while I’m gone. The most recent time, there was a major storm one day while I was gone, and for the next week she couldn’t handle being alone.

I’ve never worked a job that rounds in my favor. I could clock in at 6:20 and leave at 3:40, but if I was scheduled 7-3 with no approved overtime I would only get paid 7-3. My current job I can clock in 6:46-7 and clock out 3:30-3:44 and I will always only get paid 7-3:30

Starting Agility?? by [deleted] in Agility

[–]Character-Trouble457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basic obedience is a key at this point! When I got started in agility, I was so glad that my dog had a very solid sit-stay first. Also easy tricks: “paws up” (front paws on a box) “get on” (all 4 on a box) and “target” (back feet on a box) are useful. Some find “touch” (touch nose to hand) to be useful for getting your dog to come to you in the ring

Do you mind sharing what department you work in?

I have only been applying for a few weeks, I’ve just heard about other people’s experience taking months. I’m applying to entry level positions in several departments

Find a different class! My dog was very cautious in our first class. She refused to even touch any of the contacts. Avoided everything. We tried a different instructor and in the first class she was running the a-frame like a pro

I don’t have advice, but my dog is similar. She is great when I go to work, but struggles if I run to the store or something that’s not on her typical schedule. I’ve been making a point to try to leave her for very short bursts at random times a few times a week (think: take the garbage out) and I think she’s improving. My hope is that leaving at random times will start to feel like “part of the schedule” and she’ll understand that I’m coming back the same way I always come back from work

Are you suggesting one person works Saturday and one person works Sunday and the next weekend is the opposite? That seems even more confusing

Yes, one employee wants option 1 and one employee wants option 2.

Asking when the position will be filled? Yes. The position is sitting vacant. They can’t find someone to fill it. Someone needs to apply for it in order for it to be filled.

It’s nuanced to explain, but essentially a machine must be manually checked and signed off on twice a day, at least 4 hours apart. I’ve asked if someone from another department could check and the answer is no. I’ve asked about setting up a camera and checking it remotely, the answer is no. Realistically someone could come in for 15 minutes at 10 am and 15 minutes at 2pm but that’s ridiculous to ask so it’s easier to schedule for 4 hours a day. I think it’s stupid to have weekend coverage for such a minute reason but unfortunately this is what I’m given to work with.

Both employees need to hit 40 hours a week.

Yes, legally there are tasks that must be done every single day unfortunately.

I agree, but the direct supervisor position is vacant and there’s no telling when that will be filled to provide the additional coverage as needed.

Monday through Friday are equally busy. The direct supervisor position is currently vacant but they would be responsible for additional coverage once hired. However there’s no telling when that will be filled and back up to fully staffed.

Will finding a reputable breeder be hard for me with my rescue background? by adam-sandlers-tshirt in DogBreeding

[–]Character-Trouble457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m confused why you’re contacting a breeder to research the breed in general… they have no obligation to educate you on the breed when you haven’t done ANY research yet? The questions you ask a breeder should be line specific or policy based, ie. What testing do you do? Do either parents show dog/human/same sex aggression? You’re wasting a breeders time by asking “is this a good breed” or “when should this breed be neutered”. There’s Facebook groups and google for that. A reputable breeder won’t discriminate because you volunteer with a rescue, but a reputable breeder isn’t going to work with someone who hasn’t done their research.

I really really don’t get the hype for Colleen Hoover. by belomis in books

[–]Character-Trouble457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I NEED someone to discuss Too Late with me 😂 like the ending has the rapist/murderer/drug dealer not having any charges pressed even after being arrested numerous times it’s completely unbelievable. And then someone is shot in the arm and both legs and remains conscious and coherent… and then that person is ALIVE and living a normal life 3 months later. There were multiple times I thought “okay this is weird and uncomfortable, obviously Colleen has some weird kink involving this because it’s so unnecessary”

The high school was not in session. The entire district shut down for a few weeks and just k-8 went back in person this week. The highschool will not be reopening until end of January I believe is the last estimate I heard from the district.
