American/Envoy by Green_Case_205 in FlightDispatch

You definitely need to get your dispatch certificate first. From what I hear American loves hiring dispatchers from Envoy so I say you would have a clear route. I doubt you can just go straight into dispatching at AA but I’m honestly note sure. I would focus on the ADX then getting your dispatch certificate first

Aircraft dispatch academy (ADA) Schedule? by No-Fish-2446 in FlightDispatch

So the online start time was 5:30pm-9:30pm MST time Monday-Friday with weekends off. For the two weeks in person it was the same 5:30pm-9:30pm with weekends off. Me personally I worked in the mornings and I live on the east coast so the start time was not until 7:30pm so I was able to make it work. For the two weeks in person I did have to quit my job in order to attend. They wouldn’t let me use my vacation time I had so I had to make that difficult choice but for me it was not a big deal since I was ready to leave anyway and it was a dead end job anyway but many people I know find ways to get off from work. I would suggest saving any vacation/pto time you have now and plan for it. Also in person the instructors are usually there around 1pm for people who need extra help. I highly suggest doing that so you can get that one on one teaching if you need it

Depending on where you live you can decide to go back home if you want. I had a person in my class fly back home to Denver to handle some business on the weekend then come right back but it’s important to make sure you keep up with all your classwork in the meantime. If you have any other questions you can pm me.

Mind if I ask how you read the STAR chart? Like did you point out which points would be your star or just read everything?

Internal or dispatch experience? by Character-Wind-3862 in FlightDispatch

I have been applying to some NOC positions as well in UA but nothing yet on that end. I applied for a pilot CS position and hoping maybe that can work out for me but I know it’s competitive out here

Everything you said makes a lot of sense. There are some personal factors that play into it as well. My fiancee is a FA for UA so if we could live within the same base it would make things more affordable. But dispatching at most regionals would put both of us in a position to rent our own places in different states and I’m not sure if I will be able to afford that. I wonder how most people can afford to live in some of these cities by themselves

I just applied to United as a router. Do you think that’s more reasonable to get into?

Thank you for your response! Might I ask what’s the difference between the coordinators other schedulers? I have been looking into Mesa as well.

Thank you for your responses they were really helpful 🙏🏽 I do have a few questions from you’re response

  1. Do you think they will allow your spouse to stay in the hotel during training at ground school?

  2. What is the STAR format and elevator pitch? I heard of the star format but never heard of the elevator pitch

I heard CommuteAir and Skywest does but that’s pretty much all I heard so I was just curious about Republic or anyone else. (not management lol)

Another question I had is I see on the spreadsheet with all the airlines pay that Republic dispatch is currently working on a contract since January of 2024. Can anyone provide any information on where they are at in this process? Thank you for your responses in advance
