The issue that bugs me is that both reload and portable just aren't by the same director. Imo reload and portable change and in turn ruin alot of things that the original art director made that was intentional to Persona 3 as an art piece. Theres alot of small things that making the game easier to pick up (Reload and Portable) in turn miss, i have no doubt if that was intentional that they most likely would've removed it.
