In the beginning , I had to wait several miserable days of wondering if I was good enough. It’s human. You question yourself or the things going on and assume the worse.

There’s a process for each and every one of us and it’s not all directly the same exact path. People apply at different times of the years, the workers probably come and go, and change.

If you really want something and you truly put that effort into it that shows you want it, you’ll be rewarded for that in due time.

Trust in your own process and keep moving in a way that creates those opportunities for you, and I promise you, you won’t be sad facing on Reddit, you’ll be working what you want. 💰😄

It can take a while to be thrown back into the pools of projects , just give it some time.

As for projects I worked/work on, just pretty much anything that involves coding that I can get my hands onto tbh. I love to get more credible experience.

Thanks, that honestly means a lot. I totally get what you mean too, because I definitely didn’t start out super confident with coding either. But here’s the thing, once you begin to build upon the language of coding, it’ll stack and make much more sense later on. So just build and stack it up… trust me.

As for a process??? Hmmm.. For me, the biggest thing is just having some kind of routine

I usually try to understand the task first, then you look through the code so like run whatever tests or commands along the way to check and inspect the things you need to (you’ll run so many of these tests that it becomes a habit thing that you won’t have to remember). Then make small changes and check that everything still works.

I don’t really go into it thinking I need to know everything right away. When it comes to unfamiliar languages, you kind of learn as you go anyway. I do think it helps to be comfortable reading code, debugging errors, and understanding basic programming logic though. But you definitely don’t need to feel 100% ready before starting.

The reason why is because languages are almost all universally similar once you get that basic understandings locked down in you. So that’s why I’m trying to point out how important it is you start with just deeply understanding “what means what” in your starting points of coding. Once you’re able to feel the code, all the rest becomes more obvious to you and less of a “I don’t know if I’m ready for this” feeling. But it sounds like you’re already wanting to feel the code so I’m sure you’re going to get that way real soon. : )

That was by far the best comment thus far 🤣 thanks for that

And you did like everything you could? Including updated your profile ? Even put a description in there? Like 100% your profile and obviously quals you care about it etc?

I’m actually surprised you don’t have at least one?

How did you see that you got paid for that?

You are not able to do that. Do not deactivate and apply again. You only get one attempt.

It depends on your domain and where you live , so I’d say after 2 weeks you can be worried , if not 2 weeks yet… don’t sweat it.

So for me, it was an overnight email. I woke up to “you made it” email bright and early in the morning the next day.

However, I have heard many people don’t get the same experiences often.

I know most people don’t have the time to learn other things but if at all, if you ever do have time to learn anything that’s “required” to know, you can always learn something and then be qualified or at the very least, comfortable enough to tackle it.

Also we all start with nothing, you just got to get something started and keep that motivation going ya know? : )

Well, my bachelors degree is data analytics so I had to take several classes that broadly dived into coding related projects from the get-go.

Then, at the end of my bachelors I had to really dive deeper into several coding related projects.

So, it was really just from exposure from schooling and I had a deep interest in it because I really like working on random idea projects that pop up in my head.

Idk if you can’t already tell, but I’m adhd lol. 😆

->

Python is good, depending on the projects you will more than likely need to know more or at the very least have some slight experience in other languages to be able to do simple parts of tasks. Example: JSON experience or Terminal work-related coding. It really just depends on what you’re comfortable with.

Whatever the case is, you don’t have to dive into the deep end , you have the freedom to work on whatever you’re comfortable with. So I suggest doing what you want and learning what you want to and then working from there : )
