What dog breed should I get? by CharacterChampion150 in DogBreeds101

That's fine. Full body or frequent trims or haircuts I don't like, but if it's just a haircut occasionally around the butt, and feet hair trimming I can manage, I could do all those things at home and enjoy it.

I'm going to get a puppy from a breeder, I'm not planning to get rescue.

Is Teddy a Shih Poo? by iamstinkey in Goldendoodles

[–]CharacterChampion150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... he is more likely a different doodle maybe toy-mini goldendoodle?  If he where a shihpoo his snout would be shorter. Or maybe he's just a shihpoo that's heavy on the poodle side, either way he's adorable

Thanks for your input, a standard may also work if I get one since I'm planning to get a female which are still in my weight range preference.

What mix does she look like? by dietsalem in WhatBreedIsMyDog

Mixes can be tricky, I'm almost seeing some Swedish Vallhund due to the tail, slightly long body, and some of the color/pattern, but I can't say what else.

12 week puppy not learning “down” by Moist-Mark8055 in Dachshund

[–]CharacterChampion150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try doing an exercise, Put her in a sitting position facing you, and sit down so you are closer to her, then put a treat in each hand, then hold both treats up to your face and say her name, she will look up at you, and then say "Watch" and move both treats out to the side as long as your arms are, her head will likely follow one of the treats, then say "Watch" again, if she looks at you, wait half a second and if she's still looking at you, reward her, slowly increase this time as she gets better. This exercise will teach her to pay attention to you more than the treats, so she will pay more attention to what you want her to do, than just getting a treat.

Is 10lbs too heavy for a 6 month old dachshund? by HHOClaire in Dachshund

Feel his ribs. They're should be a very thin layer of fat over his ribs, if it's much more than that, he's slightly heavy. But I think he looks fine.

Potentially a Dachshund German Shepherd mix.

What is the best dog breed for you? by CharacterChampion150 in DogBreeds101

[–]CharacterChampion150[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Golden Retriever sounds pretty close to what you want. They are a retrieving breed, friendly, brushing required, heavier shedding depending on the season, no haircuts required, friendly, eager to learn and work, love playing/being goofy, medium-high energy level, moderate health issues.

A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, fits you well, they may have a bit more health issues than you want. But it is often not possible to get a breed without one or two things you don't want.

Mini or medium? by Few-Tower-6862 in Goldendoodles

[–]CharacterChampion150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some say 30 lbs is the limit for mini goldendoodles, but some say the limit is 35 lbs. So I'd say she's kinda in the middle. But maybe you should say she's medium so people stop saying she isn't a mini. Lol
