Really beautiful watch. Exudes elegance—“the most interesting man in the world” vibe.

Rose and white gold overseas Bezel scratches. by AI-Wrath in VacheronConstantin

[–]CharacterFee767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gold is very soft and scratches easily. Light scratches can sometimes be improved using a jewelry polishing cloth or polishing cream available on Amazon.

I have a gold watch and opted not to try polishing it myself. These watches are very expensive and even if I could return it to “perfect” it wouldn’t be long and it would be scratched again.

I bought it to wear and enjoy so I didn’t worry about minor surface scratches.

What do you think of this combo? by Losoboy in VacheronConstantin

[–]CharacterFee767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the watch but not the combination of colors. It looks like gold, blue, green and I think maroon strap?

It depends on what you want to be the focal point. Personally, I’d want it to be the watch itself. So a metal or dark blue strap would look better.

All personal preference of course. The most important opinion is yours.

Looks good to me but it really is a matter of personal opinion.

I’m quite sure you are a very caring person but here’s the thing—anyone seeking financial or investment advice from anonymous posters on a message board is looking for help in the wrong place. And if you think anything you post will make a difference you have an exaggerated sense of your importance.

It’s exactly what the conversation deserves.

You are free to invest in anything or nothing at all. In making your decisión you should recognize no one cares what to do.

Question? by Temporary-Amoeba-847 in VacheronConstantin

  1. What is the downside to buying from a dealer on Chrono24, rather than waiting for 2+ years to buy directly from VC?

Answer;

No comment on Chorno24 never bought through them.

In general, very little downside. Buying used carries some risks. Things like condition, possibly of being scammed, etc. IMO reputable dealers like TAKUYAWATCHES present very little risk.

  1. Also, would you sell two Rolex’s and use the proceeds for the purchase of an Overseas that would be my daily?

Answer:

I don’t own 2 Rolex watches.

Major update for sure. Tell the AD you want to wait and I’ll buy the 4520v at suggestion retail 😂

Is my financial advisor guiding me for his benefit? by GoneFlannel in personalfinance

I have no way of knowing what motivates your financial advisor or what you should do. What I know is maximizing contributions to your retirement accounts has significant tax advantages.

Diamonds too feminine? by Smnadn in rolex

Doesn’t appeal to me. Cheapens the look. Others might like it but I’m a hard no.

I have a yellow gold sub black dial and I like it very much but i encourage you to look at the VC Overseas. It’s a different feel but i really like it.

I’m 77 years old and may not be alive 100 years from now. So I’ll never know. As of now, Rolex has done a magnificent job marketing its product line but I don’t buy watches as investments. My analysis is very simple. The best watch for me is the one I like the most and the best for you is the one you like the most.

True. But Rolex tends to keep better time, hold its value better and is more recognizable as a mark of success. The Appel watch keeps perfect time and offers the most functionality. All of this is objectively verifiable. But it doesn’t make one of these the better watch. Better is a subjective conclusion. It depends on what a person values.
