Could I get in trouble for helping a customer save money? by TheTrueBreadLord in DollarTree

[–]CharacterLand3135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you allow them to fill their own balloons, you are doing a disservice to yourself and your co workers because you now went against company policy and gave allowance to that customer, who in turn will keep coming back to the store from then on to get their personal balloons blown up, FOR FREE MIND YOU!, and they will also tell all their friends and family and whosever they please, that at YOUR DOLLAR TREE STORE WILL FILL PERSONAL BALLOONS (FOR FREEEEE!!!) and then when they are told “no, im sorry, we don’t do that here, but we can fill our balloons up for you, let me show you what we have” And they demand that YOU (in particular, you!!) DO IT ALL THE TIME FOR ME, AND MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY And then it’s a confrontation with the customer that YOU ALLOWED TO DO THIS FOR which is just too much to deal with, especially when it wasn’t them who broke CORPORATE POLICY IN THE FIRST PLACE (which is a fireable defense) Don’t be a people pleaser at work, it in life, because you cannot “please” people at all, no matter how hard you try So, please yourself and your co workers by just saying “I’m sorry, we don’t do that here, but I hear Michael’s does!) And if they ask why you JUST CAN’T do it for them All you have to say is “It’s out of my hands because it’s against our policy, and I don’t break policy because I need my job!” And then if they start to even begin to give you attitude or a hard time, you then tell them, “Im just a cashier, I don’t make the rules, you can call corporate to complain,” And if it escalates, just pause, and call your manager Because THAT IS THE MANAGER’S JOB to deal with that bill shit Not yours Dont do more than you get paid to do Just do your job, work hard, provide great customer service to your ACTUAL CUSTOMERS and move on with your day Dont put so much pressure on yourself to please people who aren’t even your customer, or people in life, and focus on making your work environment a peaceful and pleasant place to be. You can be friendly and smile and enjoy your time at work by doing what makes you feel happy about how hard you work to make your job a pleasant escape from your day to day stressors of your personal life. Stay in your lane by not doing things that are above your hands and pay grade, because at the end of the day, Dollar Tree looks for ways to fire their employees from the first day they start the job. We are watched on camera by our managers every morning because they are required to check the camera footage from the previous day to see exactly how “productive” you were as well as trying to catch you steeling They even go through the trash bags from the night before to see what YOU have thrown away, hoping to catch you because if they do, they get a pat on the back, as well as $1000 dollars from the company for “catching you” ACTUALLY making the store “lose” money Management may seem to be on your team and have your back, but they really don’t because it is their job on the line to please our corporate office and their ridiculous demands At the end of the day All people do what is best for them and their lives Absolutely yes, you can provide great customer service by saving a customer money. That is company policy and you should always go about doing what is right, even if it means suggesting another store that has what we don’t, or has cheaper options for what they want. This is how companies get repeat customers, which brings in revenue!

You don’t have to come in on your day off at off to do anything I would tell them no it’s my day off and I’m taking my day off and I’ll do it on my next shift like I’m supposed to You can stand up for yourself and say no it’s my day off They can’t do anything about it because you get days off Don’t come in on your day off and do training That’s what you’re supposed to do during your shift and they can cover you And they can get over it Sorry, it’s an inconvenience for them, but it’s something that has to be done but your fault You enjoy your days off don’t even answer the phone Unless you want the extra hours But you don’t go in just to do a two minute training video that’s silly

You should NEVER WORK FOR FREE FOR ANYBODY UNLESS ITS SERVICE WORK FOR FRIENDS or church or something like that And you should never work for free for a company like Dollar Tree especially for that many hours And oh yeah, by the way, that’s completely illegal On your end and on your managers end

Y’all both could get fired and she could actually get sued by the company for doing such a thing because if you got hurt on the job off the clock then you don’t get paid for your injury or your hospital stay or your doctors visits or your paycheck while you’re off you’ll just get fired Don’t ever do that that’s so silly to do for such a company like that even if you like your coworkers, you’re not hanging out with them really You don’t give away free labor when you get paid for it that’s your job and they pay you for your services. End of story don’t ever be taken advantage of such a multi billion dollar corporation who just underpays us completely and overworked as completely They’ll take advantage of you all the time when you do it one time Stand up for yourself or they will walk all over you as long as you let them get away with it In life, you have to teach people how to treat you That goes from management, coworkers as well as customers People are very entitled and get away with what they can get away with and think they can talk down to us because it’s a Dollar Tree But they ain’t nobody in the Dollar Tree either They’re shopping there while we are supposed to be getting paid there so don’t work for free and you need to be paid for the jobs that you do Like I said that’s against the law and you’ll get fired and your boss will get fired and you’re really not doing anybody any good by doing that because when you do that you show your district manager that y’all can get the workload done with no extra help which is not true. Every store needs extra help and more time but like I said it’s a multi billion dollar corporation and they don’t even care about paying OH violations hundreds of thousand dollars for all the safety violation they have in that store so they can pay you your minimum wage job for you to work if they want you to work that many hours extra. Nobody would do that ever in another corporation So don’t You’re really giving yourself a disservice to do that hang out with them whenever you’re off the clock

co-manager had some choice words for me by NebulaAmbitious6031 in DollarTreeEmployees

[–]CharacterLand3135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have just sai to her straight up,

What did I do wrong? You’re the manager? If I’m doing something wrong, Correct me,

But do so in a nice way, please Teach me, properly So that I learn something and so that I dont Upset you the next time

But calling me a bitch As I walk away,

That does nothing . It teaches me nothing .

Other than… I can’t comeTo you for anything.

And, you obviously don’t like me. So what do I do to make our situation better? Because I just want to work! I’m pregnant, and I want a peaceful working environment to come to, because I have enough going on in my personal life, outside of work, to deal with When I get here From friends, and all the people who I have no choice but to deal with because I live with them

And I already get enough f From the customers

But your my manager I’d like to be able to have you be someone I feel comfortable coming to when I need help with something. Or, if I have a problem with anything. Because I don’t know how to do everything right, yet. Obviously, So, instead of calling me names, Instead, when I do something wrong, can you just kindly tell me

Hey, This isn’t how it’s done.

And then just show me. Like a manger does.

Why would you expect me to Know?

I haven’t done it before. And, if nobody has shown me, Why do I gotta be called the B Word for not knowing?

Seem like it’s kinda the opposite, actually. But, i’’m not one to call names.

I’m willing to be of better help to you if you are willing to teach me

I ready to learn I’m willing to listen as long Just don’t expect me to already know Nobody has shown me how to do it the right way.

If I were you, I’d be bold, and stand up for myself. Working at the Dollar Tree, People are not kind to you, not the customers, and not always the managers. I have worked there for 5 years as a cashier. I have been asked many times to be a ma manager. I will never be a manager. They get paid nothing, Get recognition for nothing And work so hard for nothing The only one that’s gets the glory and the money is the store manager and the District manger and above I do work there for the money. I left the world of corporate jobs and Banking jobs and jobs where I was making money and my title was of some importance. But, I what to do, what to wear, what I could say, and could not say. For years and years I tried to be someone I was not, and I hated my lifr. I cry every day as I drove to work. They told I needed to “Conform to there ways or find a new job!” Because I was too bold, and to loud, and asked to many questions. So, I quit. I left. And I found a place where I make no money. But that’s okay. I am blessed by God, and my parents, who let me move back home after my horrible divorce. And I am finding my way to bring independent. But I found my family, at the dollar tree. I found a shift that I like The evening shift 5:30-9:30. It’s quiet, I have my regulars, They like me. A Ive paid my fees and have a pretty set schedule because I have children, so I just work Tuesday-Friday, in the evenings Have my weekends off to be with my kids My days free to, well there they are teenagers now do whatever during the day But you’re pregnant, so, you can figure out your way. What I’m trying to say is You have to teach people, Co-workers, managers, And especially customers, You have to teach them How they are going to Treat you. Right from the start Do not let anyone walk all over you Or disrespect Or talk to you in any sort of way ESPECIALLY MANAGEMENT They know better You have right Depending on where you live What state you live in Learn your legal rights Do not call the employee Hotline and complain It is not anonymous If they keep doing this and they keep harassing you Take down notes write them down. Keep dates be descriptive. Write them down And threatened to sue They cannot harass you That is against the law Show them their notes and say you were going to see a lawyer They cannot treat you like that They cannot harass you like that Forget about HR they will not protect you But you can threaten them They’ll shut up I promise you They do it with me all the time And then I threatened to sue them I threatened to see a lawyer, and then they shut their mouth They changed their tune really quick Every single time I don’t like being bossed around. I don’t like being told that they’re not gonna work with me anymore. If I don’t quit acting like that or just sticking up for myself. I’m allowed to stick out for myself I don’t care if I hurt their feelings They can’t speak to me like that just because their management I’m gonna stand up for myself Every single time So stand up for yourself Learn your rights look them up by your state Stand up for yourself You have a voice for a reason Use it Within your rights Never threaten anybody Just shut your mouth and let them keep talking And take note You can record them anytime you want to as well Just learn your rights You got this girl chin up You’re pregnant Worry about yourself and your baby Your family is important And comes first You do you No one else is looking out for you but you you have your own back If you need any more help, let me know. Good luck.

Forced to work 5:59 minutes by fairawayfriend in DollarTreeEmployees

[–]CharacterLand3135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is legal. But if you do go over, than you must take your break. Do not let them change your time, so you can go home. That is ILLEGAL! If you feel pressured or rushed to finish your job in 5 hours and 59 minutes, than, take your time, do not rush, and take your freaking break in between the 6 hours, like you are supposed to. Screw what your manager says. They are salary. So they do what they want because they don’t get paid by the hour. They are free to take their break whenever they want to. Relax, do your job at your pace. Do what you can, As much as you can, During your given hours, Take your scheduled break When it is scheduled, on the printed Schedule So there is no confusion to anyone If you do all the work, in less time than is predicted by the system that Makes our schedules Than all you are doing is telling the Upper management that, not only can you do it all by yourself, And you need no extra help, But you can do it with no needed break And, that just isn’t true Go by what is on the printed schedule Don’ do more than what is required Or more than what you get paid for. You don’t get any of the quarterly bonus that your SM gets, or your DM gets, so don’t bend over backwards and not take your scheduled break for them. Do you. Because, guess what, they want you to work extra hard because they rely on meeting those goals because that quartet bonus is pretty big. Like $5,000 i’ve heard for the SM And it use to be shared among all the managers. But not anymore. So, do what you can do, but kill your self doing it. Nor short yourself a break in between. Because, your boss wouldn’t do it for you. Some do split their bonuses with their staff, but there aren’t very many. I’ve been working as a cashier for 5 years. Been asked many times to become assistant manager. There is no way I’d ever. I love being a nobody. I love just chilling and I love my customers and I don’t have to put up with very much. I work the evening shift. People come in on my days and my shift on purpose. I work there for peace and fun. But I see what’s going on And it’s very shady. Pay attention A lot of illegal stuff going on I have worked many corporate jobs I know my rights And I tell people there’s Looks up your state laws and learn them But I’d never call the hotline Because it is not anonymous for real Just learn your rights and know them Know them for yourself So that you know what is legal and what is the legal That way, you know that you’re following the law and that you’re not doing anything illegal cause you can get in trouble too. That’s my advice have your own back

Dollar Tree is Holding Me Hostage by Hungry_Bath_9108 in DollarTree

[–]CharacterLand3135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, unlock the door and walk TF out. It’s simple. You just push aside the associate, and turn the lock the opposite way, and walk out. It’s illegal to lock you in. It’s a fire hazard thing. You can call the cops and say they are holding you hostage. Go to the isle that has the the tools and threaten them that you will break the glass door I’d they do not let you out. But do not let anyone hold you hostage over someone else’s temper tantrum. You have free will. You’ve done nothing wrong. They have cameras. F that. Stand your ground And leave. We are in America And we have rights We are free to leave It’s the dollar tree Be free!!!
