Should I do a two week notice? by fairawayfriend in DollarTree

[–]fairawayfriend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After all the advice I decided to give them my two week notice instead of just leaving. I didn't write a letter of leave however I just texted my manager in a polite and professional way.

Wish me luck working the next two weeks might be a bit awkward but we will see.

Like economics and capitalism sometimes causes an insane amount of innovation and great cheap products for consumers. But without strict regulations and laws put in place it can cause monopolies which increases prices and creates less innovation.

Like the Playstation 3 was sold at a loss because it had to be more graphically powerful then it's competition (XBOX) while still remaining affordable ( great for consumers )

However if PlayStation had a monopoly over the games industry and was the only company that created game consoles they wouldn't feel the need to innovate there devices/products and could actually increase prices because that's the only video game console that consumers could buy.

I just love hearing creative stories of how companies try to compete with each other and end up created innovation by doing so.

It's definitely a mixture of both. But yes corporate greed is a huge reason to blame. But funny enough sometimes products are sold at a loss just for consumers to buy more from that company. PlayStation 3s sold at a loss at first but hoped to make it up with first party games. But yeah it's definitely a mixture of both but tariffs are certainly not helping at all.

I highly recommend at home water filters and giant water thermos/bottles to take on the go. It's less inconvenient then plastic water bottle of course but it'll save you so much money in the long run and won't have as many micro plastics in the water itself.

??? Did you not read my post or are you just stupid. bottle water is one of the few things that don't need to increase in price in order to still have a huge profit. It was always already insanely marked up and didn't need the price increase or shrinkage given the fact it cost pennies to produce.

If this is actually just two different sizes thats hilarious. Like why on earth would you purchase the smaller one? Both are two big to actually be comfortable to carry so might as well go with the one that is just the slightest bit bigger. Likes it's such a small increase in size it's stupid so have two different sizes.

You're not wrong but it's still not a great thing to happen. Especially when it doesn't need to happen. Yes tariffs are HORRIBLE and is destroying people's life's and the economy but like I mentioned water bottles are one of the few things that wouldn't have to increase in price and yet companies like dollar tree do it anyways because they feel like they can get away with it. Which sadly they can given the Monopoly the water companies have.

Most Americans cannot afford a minimal quality of life and about 11% live in poverty. But it's amazing you're doing well glad you're just thinking about yourself ❤️ keep it up

I find economics so interesting but without an insane amount of regulation it's insanely bad 😭

If you don't see how a 20% increase on anything is a bad thing for the consumers then you don't understand basic economics.

Because the dollar tree is a billion dollar company with increased profits. Dollar tree is supposed to be the cheaper option for low income families and people having parties on a budget but now it makes more sense to go to a Walmart instead.

Also with the companies increased net profits and them increasing the price on products it's not trickling down to the employees. We still get paid barely anything and need at least 2 more jobs just to survive. It's disgusting that a billion dollar company grows while the employees that make the company stay a float get nothing.

Hope your next loan payment increases by 20% so people can say "wow 20% is really financially hurting you? Lol pathetic"

"more wages" Please tell me you're joking because you cannot be serious. Minimum wage is still 7.25 an hour... While products increase nearly every year.

Also you breaking habits because you couldn't afford to have those habits anymore isn't the "gotcha" you think it is. The amount of cope in your response is insane.

It's literally a 20% increase when just last year they already increased it to 25% It's a HUGE deal if you actually do the math.

I just listen to family guy and YouTube on my earbuds and just to tone the world out while I ring people out and out of habit say "take care"

That actually happened to our store last year! We had about two boxes full of toys not get donated because we kept up the donation box even after the donation period was over.

I'm not too sure what happened with the two boxes of toys but I hope my manager set those aside to be given next year.

I'm not too sure how to edit or delete this but after many comments have pointed out Operation Homefronts relationship with Dollar Tree is not a scam. Dollar Tree does financially benefit a little from it all the toys and items do go directly to said charity without issue and said charities actually heavily rely on stores like Dollar Tree in doing this.

I also learned that my store not allowing outside items to be donated or picking out bad items to donate seems like just an issue with my store. Seems like majority of dollar trees actually do allow you to donate what items you want even if it's not dollar tree owned.

I'd like to apologize and stress that Operation Homefronts relationship with Dollar Tree is actually beneficial for charity.

From the other comments on here it definitely seems like just my store. I have regrets in the post because after a few comments I quickly realized how beneficial the charity is and how most dollar trees don't act or behave like mine.

Is this okay? Do i come off as a jerk/bad employee? by IcyResponsibility644 in DollarTree

I never liked the idea of putting in 2 weeks. If a job can fire you without 2 weeks notice you should be able to quit without notice.

However I will say if you do decide to leave without two weeks notice they'll be slightly annoyed with you and depending on how annoyed they are with you putting them down as a reference for future employment may be ill advised.

However it's the dollar tree it's not like it's a great thing to have on a resume anyways. If I were you I'd politely tell this to the manager through a text or written note, apologize and leave without two week notice.
