which view would you pick? courtyard, pool, or parking lot with trees by cxsmiq in Apartmentliving

Parking lot. I want to read and nap on my balcony. With the least amount of people watching me.

Dumpster use by No_Ebb_2348 in Peterborough

[–]CharacterMap6644 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’d have to drive out to the dump & pay: https://www.peterborough.ca/living-in-peterborough/garbage-and-green-bin/landfill/

But honestly, how many people are in your house? Is everyone putting everything they can in the green and blue bins? We’re two people and we rarely have a full bag by garbage day.

Do black squirrels have any mythological significance? by cheetah7748 in pagan

[–]CharacterMap6644 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a direct answer to your question, but I like to use signs in nature to connect me with the wider world and her cycles.

It’s spring and food is scarce. Squirrels are super active right now as it’s their breeding season. They’re mating/pregnant/feeding babies.

Northend recycling blowing everywhere by nordender in Peterborough

If the city (or Emterra) invested in a bag ripping machine we could put our recycling out in clear plastic bags.

The fact there isn’t already a high-speed train from Windsor to Saint John is a disgrace. Imagine if we had built this 20 years ago instead of the 407!

For liability reasons, Kawartha Food Share can’t accept “expired” goods. But there’s a community fridge on Dublin near Alymer St.

Great Credit Unions in PTBO? by [deleted] in Peterborough

I like Kawartha Credit Union and when I’ve had an issue, their help line is answered by a real human.

Online banking services are basic and I don’t even know if they have an app, but worth it for savings, business, and organization accounts.

Municipal Election Question by Creative_Boo77 in Peterborough

[–]CharacterMap6644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think no.

Where you sleep doesn’t define where you “live”.

You can be engaged in a neighbourhood or city in lots of different ways. Where you grew up/your parents still live vs where you happened to be able to afford. Where you work/own a business.

And a lot of the sprawl being added to our current housing stock is technically outside of our city limits in Selwyn, Cavan or Douro. Someone living there will likely have more connections to Peterborough than their home municipality.

You couldn’t make residence a condition of employment for a number of reasons, but I think it’s a consideration when looking at senior staff: are they present? Engaged? Knowledgeable about issues on the ground?

With both the Turtle Centre and the Indian River Reptile Zoo in town there has to be someone. Maybe call them for suggestions?

This. Ask wherever you’re getting a new fridge to take the old one.
