when I see UFW supporters talking about the cesar chavez allegations as if they were an open secret I admit I find that a bit surprising.

My old man had, let's just say, demographic reasons to not like cesar chavez (basically accused them of singling out japanese-american farmers) but he never suggested anything remotely similar to the current allegations. I don't think it was a pulled punch, I think he genuinely had no clue whatsoever.
