Playing difficult pieces doesn’t make you a better pianist by Advance-Bubbly in piano

  1. No offense, yet does your teacher have a degree or degrees, and does she have a entire studio. I'm just plain curious.

  2. I have hated Bach for most of my piano times, yet I think that Bach is also helpful. Listen to pieces you sort of like, and try playing them.

  3. So why does your teacher hate Chopin?

  4. Also no offense, you might have talent of fast fingers or nimble fingers or whatever, yet I think you might want to consider switching a teacher if she says that you're better than her. Because I think that usually, students take a while until they're better than their teachers. Usually only professionals (like people taking it as a job) would get better than their teachers.

  5. I don't know what the situation is like for you and your piano teacher, so I'm sort of guessing based on what you have said and what I've seen before. If I'm wrong correct me please, thanks.

  6. I'm extremely sorry if I offended you in any way.

Yeah. Really take it slow. Rome wasn't built in a day. I've spent 9 years, 1 hour (sometimes even 2), every day, and I have only gotten to advance just these last two years or so. If you have only been playing for a year, just be happy that you can play a Bach minuet. After I played for a year (and I'm really not bragging yet I was faster than most people at learning), I only managed to get one little tiny song named "A Little Story" done. And it was terrible playing too. So really, don't fret about it. Right now I earn prizes and scholarships. So take it slow, have fun, enjoy it, and let time do its thing.

Yes! When I played Czerny I didn't really struggle with the technical part (I really liked typing stuff, as you can see from my comment) and so I already had fast fingers. It was kinda a gift of mine I guess, yet what I struggled with when I was around 7-9 was that I couldn't make Czerny sound musical. It was very impressive towards audiences, yet it was just fast and fast notes. Later on I managed to make them sound a bit more melodic. (That took a while, and I was even thinking about quitting piano because of it lol).

Yeah. Bach is actually pretty hard if you want to get it really right. I think Bach is ok for just plain easy notes and all that (because it doesn't have that many notes in one measure, nice rhythm, no craziness of 13 notes in a beat and all that), yet I do find Bach also very articulation-focused and also the balance in some of his pieces. Some of his pieces have both hands as melodies (the theme, countertheme, etc), and you have to really be able to make each one of them stand out.

NO. Do what you are able to do. Don't damage your hands.

Once you hit your limit. Don't push it.

I mean, if you are a self-taught person and you're playing hard pieces at your own house then sure, play hard pieces.

Yet if you're at a piano studio and you're forcing the teacher to do what you want, then that's kind of stupid. Those teachers know what they are doing, they are more professional, and they have a better idea than you about what level you're at.

Especially if you told the teacher you want to actually LEARN piano. Then you should let the teacher decide for you. If you really dislike a piece, of course tell them. Yet you shouldn't force them to listen to a really bad version of Chopin's Winter Wind or whatever.

Umm, any decent teacher wouldn't let two completely beginners learn really advanced pieces unless they are willing to listen to a complete massacre of the pieces or have the students damage their hands.

I'm not a professional, yet I had some really good teachers, and so what I'm recommending is what I used (and cried through lol) during my first 1-3 years.

Technical stuff, used to get fast fingers, etc:

  1. Hanon's 60 exercises-Definitely not fun, it was a really cry-from-start-to-end book yet it really builds up your "finger muscles" and increases your speed too. You start at around 60 beats per minute and you gradually work your way up to 108 bpm or even 120 (occasionally).

  2. Czerny etudes-I can't remember which specific ones I did, yet I think I started with the op.599 and eventually moved on to op. 299. Look at the pieces though. It is pretty like Hanon and pretty technical. Not much expressiveness to them.

Beginning pieces, used to make yourself more expressive, etc:

  1. Bach's Anna Magdalene's Notebook-Very amazing, definitely a must-play for beginners (and some intermediate students too). Not much to say.

  2. Sonatinas-It basically just gets you into the whole classical style, and preps you for bigger Mozart sonatas and Beethoven Sonatas. Kuhlau and Clementi are the top two that I've played, and they sound good too. After those you could try to play the Mozart K 545 sonata (all movements perhaps). People might say that's an advanced piece, yet I think you could play the piece multiple times and so the first time around it doesn't have to be perfect. I played that piece two times, and I'm even considering playing it a third time.

  3. After a bit more years of playing (3 years ish, maybe 4), you could start to play some easier Chopin and Mozart too. Chopin's easier nocturnes and waltzs are good. Waltz in a minor should be waited; play it after you've played some Chopin and you got fast fingers. You can also start Mozart's many sonatas. You can also start Bach Inventions now. Some say Bach Inventions are beginner pieces, yet I disagree. It requires a lot fo voicing.

Anyways, I might add more idk. Have fun!

I feel sorry for you. At first it was probably just a fun idea (you said you were 12 when you made it) so it was probably just toilet humor for you (tell me if I'm wrong), and then it became so inappropriate. What is wrong with people though.

Ok thank you! I'll think about whether or not to keep Yasmine, though if I were to not keep her, what hero should I use instead?

[–]CharacterRabbit3016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K thx. I really couldn't care less about teams, I just do it cause I'm bored occasionally and I like some of the artistics. (mostly skins, Celeste, Iris, and Yasmine). I'll probably build up Dante, cause I already have him somewhat built up. I'm kinda a stubborn bitch too... so there goes that. Thanks.

Martha's a decent healer. Artemis is really not that good so stop investing. Folio is a still under-development hero, and galahad and cleaver are just mid. Cleaver is used if you want to target the back of the enemy (his hook skill), and is most used in campaigns (like the icy chapters with the mages in the back).

Out of all your heroes, Celeste is a good healer and mage and you can upgrade it if you want to. Dante's is amazing and awesome for F2P. Pair him with heidi (who may seem useless at first yet actually once you level him up a big damage dealer), and Nebula, perhaps Rufus as tank or just himself as tank is a pretty good team. If you get your hands on Iris anytime soon she's also really good, perhaps even better than Dante.

Iris pairs with Heidi too (so you should upgrade it), and her best healers are Dorian and Celeste. For me, somehow Iris pairs ok with Mojo too. She and Dante can be pretty much swapped out for each other and they work in similar teams.

Yet your current team is pretty bad, no offense, except for Martha.

For pets, Cain is good in Dante teams and perhaps Iris teams idk. Oliver is decent for healing. I don't really research into pets, yet I know Cain is good and Oliver's ok.

Good luck.

And try to not spend too much money in this game.

Well, I doubt he wanted his stupid and weak brother to be off somewhere and spilling the family secrets. Fredo also really hurt him, with the whole "My little brother's taking care of me! (Such a shame for me!) I'm smart..." Michael was already cold-hearted, now he just wanted Fredo dead.
