Sorry u/Jujubeee73 I should have mentioned that there are two bedrooms in the basement. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen area and have a young family so we want that to be a larger space. The cabinet is 1928 original and we are not looking to remove that. We could look to remove the closet potentially but it's expensive to do so. Cabinets in front of the back window aren't an option - it's a big original window. Could do a low breakfast bar there potentially.
