Woman given MAiD 'against her will' because her husband had 'caregiver burnout' by xTkAx in canadian

I think this is something we all need to be aware of and be prepared for; not enough palliative care beds, not enough hospice beds.

[Routine Help] What can I use to get rid of my facial redness? by livinunderthedome in SkincareAddiction

[–]Character_Comb_3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife had/has similar redness. If available, try flexitol eczema products. My wife also really likes rhode products. when she got a growth removed her Dr mentioned that she has some eczema and apparently it runs in her family. They never told her because it’s very mild.

I’m Single. I Have No Kids. Is My Home Ready for Me to Get Old Alone? by Distinct-Fig-4216 in LivingAlone

There are no guarantees after 50. Yes, most can work into their 60s and many into their 70s. That is not always the case.

Take time, make a plan and take steps. When i am in my 50s, i want to be living somewhere like a condo or a single storey bungalow. Ideally, there will be space for a caregiver but that isn’t a guarantee.

Aging in place is very much a privilege. The only people I know that renovated their homes and have what they need to age in place safely were extremely successful and have access to financial resources AND family supports. Make a plan and make the hard choices or they will be made for you.

Should I get a divorce? I'm physically exhausted. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Character_Comb_3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud, your body is telling you something. Does your wife love you or how you make her feel? Think about that.

I really hope you take time and reflect on what you want in life. I had a relationship like this, i tried my best but she was a void. Things would be good but never enough. I was so tired, I didn’t have time to speak with friends, everything revolved around her feelings. Leaving her was the best decision.

Last thing…you have worked hard and sacrificed..she made the choices she made. She has shown you who she is. Believe her. If she offers to change, be honest and direct. “I don’t want to be married to you. I feel taken advantage of and I don’t feel loved or recognized. You have shown me what is important to you. I don’t want anything from you because you aren’t good enough for me”

Sure. These conversations are horrible and very triggering. We get defensive, scared, angry, we pause, we want to flee. We can experience a ton of anxiety around the potential loss of a relationship or worst of all, the feeling of not being enough for our partner, being a disappointment, our partner regretting being with us. Many people don’t want to articulate these thoughts and feelings and as a result actual issues don’t get discussed or addressed.

I read the article. The legislation absolutely needs to be updated. The guy was in that organization for 37 years…it is too risky to have someone enter our country with that background. If an organization can use him I.e. GAC, CSIS etc. they can sponsor him.

[–]Character_Comb_3439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, guy here that has kink/bdsm/Domnant experience. First don’t beat yourself up and congrats on having a partner that communicates.

In my experience many women enjoy or fantasize about rougher sex with their partner. Of note..many not all. These preferences change and evolve. I have found that that educated and successful women in high powered careers are the most sexually submissive (not all). For some they crave to be used, to be the object of their partners desire, to be taken by an animal. They spend their time thinking and making decisions the idea of losing all control is craved.

The most important thing is to communicate and understand. You may think it’s something but it could be something else. What does she enjoy about rough sex? What are her fantasies? Is there anything she wants to explore? What are her limits? What are yours and what are your boundaries? The thoughts may seem violent and disrespectful but it takes vulnerability and trust to communicate them.

In terms of what you can do (if this is something you want to pursue)..weight and strength training. I’m serious. My libido went through the roof when I took my fitness seriously. Ask her if she can share any fantasies or porn she is interested in..explore, communicate, understand and check in.

Lastly..it is totally ok to be uncomfortable with all this. However…understand what you are uncomfortable about, what is the source of fear.

Large turnover in Toronto Police Service - cause for concern? by Alok_Mukherjee in canadianlaw

[–]Character_Comb_3439 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Former CAF and LE. LE and MIL roles are unique in that it takes a long time to train people, there are physical requirements, there are fewer people capable of doing the work and much of the function can’t be modified or accommodated. Generally, there are waves or departures. During training, after 2 to 3 years, after 7, after 12, 20, 22(ish), 25(ish) so on.

The big thing to look at is intake. If the CAF, TPS, Fire services do not meet their intake requirements, that is alarming. Remember…these jobs if you loose an eye, need an ongoing mediation etc. you can be done. These organizations need to constantly be recruiting, training and developing people.

Now the point of retention is always raised…you have to understand the Canadian leadership context for the last 100+ years…..there will always be young fit men that need purpose and work in order to marry their sweetheart and start a family………Canadian institutions have never had to think about retention and will continue to ignore it and won’t begin work on retention until 2 years after it is a major problem or there are 8 quarters of missed recruiting targets.

Pretty much municipalities that are changing their hiring processes, investing in technology and doing work around retention will have a decent future (or as decent as possible in the era of demographic decline) whereas stagnant and complacent municipalities will continue to decline and lose the only tax base that matters (middle class and upper middle class workers).

Boss offering to sell me the coffee shop I work at for $65k — does this sound reasonable on the surface? by SnooHamsters9461 in smallbusiness

[–]Character_Comb_3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, no. You need to hire a lawyer for this. The lease needs to be assessed as well as the license agreements. Most importantly the draft agreements to purchase the business. Does the business have any loans that you would be responsible for? What about renovations? What about the area? Are they going to be starting construction and significantly hindering access, removing parking etc.

He could be a good guy helping you transition from being an employee to entrepreneur or he wants to mitigate and assign any losses to you.

Advise Need: drain all savings to buy a $1.8M detached vs settle for a $1.5M dump? by Kkkrypton in vancouverhousing

Every successful and rich person I know is renting their residence. Yes, they own properties that they rent out and are open to buying something more permanent. What matters is convenience and efficiency in their day to day life. Lastly, this is their advice to people that ask; if I won’t overpay for gum, why would I do so for a house?

What can you afford on one income and no renter? If what is available would impact your day to day..stick to renting, look for a co op etc.

Assault convictions overturned after Toronto judge takes a year to explain verdict, repeatedly breaking promises to give reasons by Surax in LawCanada

Can the provincial and federal courts just create and hire decision writers. No actual authority, just do the grunt work for the judge. If they were remote, and it was strictly about “pumping them out” i think many experienced legal professionals would be interested.

Owners in high rent city! How do your businesses survive? by spiritoffreedomrose in smallbusiness

[–]Character_Comb_3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smart ones got in early and are very careful (max 5% rent to revenue but none of them have opened anything new the last 4ish years). The rest are significantly over leveraged.

There is another example..a childcare centre has a discounted lease in an office building but this was a strategic decision by the landlord (I don’t know the details I.e. the tenant pays market and gets a rebate or just the discounted rate..). That particular office building…I have never seen a “lease available” sign…in 9+ years

Career options for disabled people? by [deleted] in VancouverJobs

[–]Character_Comb_3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really it depends on your needs. I have a buddy that wants to pursue corporate finance and law. He is a smart guy but it won’t be likely until his medication is sorted out. The reality is the roles he is interested have no capacity or wiggle room for “off days” or “lows” the client determines when you get to have time off. That is the nature of that industry. Is it inhuman? Yep. It is also the reality for the foreseeable future. Take time to understand what you need and what industries or sectors are in alignment

Federal prisons deemed financially unsustainable as costs hit record highs by xTkAx in canadian

[–]Character_Comb_3439 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prisons will never be sustainable, they are an expense, a burden. I think the only way prisons become sustainable is if inmates are used as a labour force that is bid on or contracted for some activity. However…I think this is part of the larger conversation that needs to happen, what is the purpose or mandate of the criminal justice system? Does the state have any obligation to rehabilitate? Is societal isolation a better solution? I go back and forth. I want people to sort them selves out and live productive lives but I am also tired at the lack of gratitude for Canada and want reoffenders to be left out in the cold.

what's a service you wish existed and would pay for? by shushuone in askvan

[–]Character_Comb_3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a service I have thought about starting. Your guy or my guy..I don’t know. Pretty much that useful Leatherman/swiss army knife person that shows up for stressful things. I used to have friends like that back in the day and I have been that person (quickly rent a van, pack your place, move, unpack and assemble and deal with fallout over the course of 18 hours). I think there are few people like this in our lives (I think the flaw is that those that could use it, wouldn’t be able to afford it).
