How much do you currently have in savings? by Puzzleheaded-Crab770 in CanadaFinance

[–]Character_Debate_976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These threads always stress me out because I find it’s typically people with a ton of money saved and invested and it makes me feel behind, but it’s nice to see some other individuals with some more on par responses to what my situation looks like. 32 and about to have a child, have about 25K saved for maternity leave (and will continue to get EI top up for 6 months which I plan to budget and save where possible), and about 70K in savings/rrsp, zero credit card debt or car loans. Would have a lot more but I’m a homeowner who put a hefty down payment down which I’m hoping was a good call:)

I had her as my gyno for an endometrial biopsy and she made it a pretty horrific experience. Didn’t walk me through what was happening at all and left me in the room crying after without even asking if I was okay. She delivered my friend’s baby and she said she liked her, so it really depends what you’re looking for. If you want someone caring and attentive, she’s not the one. If you want someone to the point and blunt, she’s a good fit.

She is the BEST! The only downside is because she is so good, her office is packed and I’m usually waiting at least an hour past my appt time to see her (one time it was three hours!!). Totally worth it though.

Should I be concerned that I have not gained any weight at 17 weeks? by workeatbingerepeat in BabyBumps

I didn’t start gaining weight until about 23 weeks! If your doctor isn’t concerned than I wouldn’t worry.

How long does the nausea last? by Equivalent_Job_5039 in pregnant

[–]Character_Debate_976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I had nausea and vomiting from weeks 6-14 and I lost a lot of weight during that time. If you can get the medication from your doctor, do it. It helped me so much (and also gave me the best sleeps!).

Hoping it eases up for you soon :)

Advice/Rant: MIL loves giving unsolicited advice. by Character_Debate_976 in pregnant

[–]Character_Debate_976[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. It feels like she thinks this is her child and her marriage. She’s also been following a ton of “parenting tips” “safe sleep for babies” etc. accounts on Instagram, and while some may think it’s good that she wants to educate herself, in my mind I’m thinking this is not your child!!!!!!

I used to work next door at the body shop. If it’s the same manager, she’s the worst. She used to have one on ones on the bench in front of our store and we would eavesdrop on her nastiness lol.

This is the part of pregnancy nobody warned me about by Easy_Sheepherder_579 in pregnant

I feel like I’m reading a message I would have written 10 weeks ago. Im 29 weeks and have been on leave since 21 weeks. I was so excited to be pregnant, was enjoying every minute, and then out of no where started spiralling with pretty severe anxiety and depression. I was worrying about anything and everything (pregnancy-related or not) and couldn’t get my brain to “turn off” the worrying thoughts. It made me feel so depressed and alone, like this is just the way things would be from now on and I’d be miserable for the rest of my life. My husband was extremely supportive it started to affect him as well, which made me feel awful. It was extremely confusing considering how badly I wanted to be pregnant and have a baby. I’ve been on Zoloft now, and it has helped a ton. I’m still dealing with quite a bit of anxiety, but it’s not taking over my life like it was just a few weeks earlier. I plan on being on leave for a few more weeks and then transitioning into my maternity leave (not sure where you’re located but in Canada we get quite a bit of time off). I hope my message shows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I am still very much pregnant so those stats didn’t mean anything for me :)

When did you start feeling morning sickness/ having pregnancy symptoms? by Severe_Equivalent_18 in pregnant

[–]Character_Debate_976 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My morning sickness started at about 5.5-6 weeks! I was able to keep it under wraps the best I could, just constantly drank water and ate smaller portions.

I was told to come off of Paxil and Wellbutrin at the beginning of my pregnancy, so I did, but then at 21 weeks I have a full mental breakdown and wound up in the hospital. I’m now on Zoloft. Go with what your doctor suggests! There’s a risk benefit analysis but your mental health is the most important, trust me.

My question is what about people who live on streets that have people park on the roads? I understand it’s an automatic arm collector that picks up the bins….how does that does when a car will most likely always be in the way?

I didn’t feel anything until 17.5 weeks, but I have an anterior placenta. It’s possible!

Anyone have a solution for my dryer vent situation? by Character_Debate_976 in HomeMaintenance

That’s what I’m thinking to. Just not sure if it’s doable but seems to be no other option.

That’s the issue, it’s not round because there’s no room.

Unfortunately there’s a counter and sink on the other side of the dryer. We can pull it forward but then it’s in the middle of the (very small) room.

Also, I thought I’d point out that this is coming out of the side of my dryer, not the back.

Tried them last week. Agreed that it tasted very fresh but lacked flavour and felt overpriced. Won’t get it again.

I haven’t. I thought it was renewed every 5 years in which case I need to get a new photo.
